Which legal companies sponsor E-3 visas in Tennessee?
Tennessee's largest E-3 visa legal sponsors tend to be AmLaw-ranked firms with Nashville or Memphis offices, such as Bass Berry & Sims and Baker Donelson, alongside corporate legal departments at companies like FedEx, HCA Healthcare, and Dollar General. University legal offices at Vanderbilt and the University of Tennessee also periodically hire for specialist roles that qualify for E-3 sponsorship. Sponsorship is never guaranteed and varies by firm and role.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most legal E-3 sponsorship jobs?
Nashville generates the highest concentration of legal E-3 opportunities, driven by its growth as a healthcare, finance, and entertainment hub with corresponding in-house and firm-side legal demand. Memphis follows, anchored by FedEx's global headquarters and a strong regional law firm presence. Knoxville offers a smaller but active market tied to the University of Tennessee and Oak Ridge National Laboratory's compliance and regulatory needs.
What types of legal roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship in Tennessee?
Roles that routinely qualify as specialty occupations under E-3 include associate attorney, corporate counsel, compliance officer, contract specialist, immigration paralegal supervisor, and regulatory affairs lawyer. The position must normally require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field, general administrative or clerical legal support roles typically do not meet the specialty occupation threshold. The employer confirms the qualification level in the Labor Condition Application filed with DOL.
How do I find legal E-3 sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate surfaces legal roles in Tennessee that are filtered for employers with documented E-3 and H-1B visa Labor Condition Application filing history, so you can focus on firms and legal departments already familiar with work visa sponsorship. Search by the Law and Legal Services industry and filter to Tennessee to see current openings. You can also cross-reference employers in the DOL's OFLC public disclosure data to verify past LCA filings before applying.
Are there any Tennessee-specific considerations for E-3 legal sponsorship?
Tennessee does not impose state-level licensing reciprocity for Australian-qualified lawyers, so most attorneys seeking substantive legal practice roles will need to satisfy Tennessee Bar admission requirements independently of the E-3 visa itself. Compliance, regulatory, and in-house contract roles that do not require bar admission are often more accessible entry points. Nashville's rapid corporate growth has increased demand for legal professionals across multiple practice areas, but each employer's sponsorship willingness varies.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 legal jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
