Which insurance companies sponsor E-3 visas in Tennessee?
Tennessee hosts several large insurance employers with documented sponsorship history, including Unum Group, headquartered in Chattanooga, and national carriers with significant operations in Nashville such as Cigna and Assurant. Specialty brokers and managing general agents operating in the state have also filed Labor Condition Applications for skilled roles. Sponsorship activity varies by company size and hiring cycle, so confirming a specific employer's current sponsorship posture before applying is important.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most insurance E-3 sponsorship jobs?
Nashville is Tennessee's primary insurance employment center, hosting regional offices for national carriers, benefits administrators, and insurance technology firms. Chattanooga is notable as the home base of Unum Group and supports a concentrated cluster of insurance roles. Knoxville has a smaller but active market, particularly in commercial lines and employee benefits. Memphis also offers opportunities through healthcare-adjacent insurance operations tied to its large hospital systems.
What types of insurance roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship applies to specialty occupation roles requiring at least a U.S. bachelor's degree or equivalent in a directly related field. In insurance, qualifying positions commonly include actuaries, underwriters, risk analysts, claims specialists, compliance officers, data analysts supporting pricing and reserving, and financial reporting roles. General customer service or sales positions that do not require a specific degree field are less likely to meet the specialty occupation standard for E-3 purposes.
How do I find insurance E-3 sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals seeking E-3 sponsorship and lets you filter by industry and state, making it straightforward to identify insurance employers in Tennessee with active or historical sponsorship activity. Because not every insurance job listing mentions visa sponsorship explicitly, using a platform that cross-references DOL Labor Condition Application data gives you a more reliable signal of which Tennessee employers are genuinely open to E-3 candidates.
Are there any state-specific or industry-specific considerations for E-3 sponsorship in Tennessee's insurance sector?
Tennessee does not impose additional state-level visa sponsorship requirements beyond federal E-3 rules, but insurance roles in the state may require licensure through the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance. Some actuarial and underwriting positions also require professional designations such as FCAS or FSA. Australian applicants should confirm that their qualifications are recognized and, where licensure is required, understand the timeline for obtaining a Tennessee insurance license alongside the visa application process.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 insurance jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
