Which sports companies in Tennessee sponsor H-1B visas?
Tennessee's major professional franchises are the most active H-1B visa sponsors in the sports space. The Tennessee Titans, Nashville Predators, and Memphis Grizzlies have filed H-1B petitions for roles in sports analytics, physical therapy, and business operations. University athletics programs at the University of Tennessee and Vanderbilt University have also sponsored H-1B workers, particularly in sports medicine and athletic performance.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most sports H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Nashville and Memphis account for the majority of sports H-1B sponsorship activity in Tennessee. Nashville's growth as a professional sports hub, anchored by the Predators and Titans, has driven demand for specialized roles. Memphis offers opportunities through the Grizzlies organization. Knoxville is worth watching given the scale of University of Tennessee athletics, which employs a significant number of specialized staff.
What types of sports roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Tennessee?
H-1B classification requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning it must normally require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. In Tennessee's sports industry, roles that commonly meet this standard include sports data analysts, biomechanists, athletic trainers with clinical degrees, physical therapists, sports nutritionists, and sports marketing or business analytics professionals. General coaching or operations roles without a degree requirement typically do not qualify.
How do I find sports H-1B sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by visa type, state, and industry to surface H-1B sponsorship positions in Tennessee's sports sector directly, without sorting through listings from employers who don't sponsor. Migrate Mate aggregates roles from professional franchises, university athletics departments, and sports-adjacent organizations across Nashville, Memphis, and Knoxville, saving significant time in the job search process.
Are there any Tennessee-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in the sports industry?
Tennessee has no state income tax on wages, which affects total compensation comparisons but does not change H-1B sponsorship requirements. Employers must still file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor certifying the offered wage meets the prevailing wage for the role and location. For university-affiliated sports roles, it's worth confirming whether the institution is cap-exempt, which can allow filings outside the standard H-1B lottery cycle.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B sports jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
