Which automotive companies sponsor H-1B visas in West Virginia?
West Virginia's automotive sponsorship activity is primarily driven by auto parts manufacturers, engineering services contractors, and suppliers operating near the state's industrial corridors. Companies with facilities in the Charleston and Huntington metro areas have filed Labor Condition Applications for H-1B visa roles. Checking DOL OFLC disclosure data by employer name and state gives the most accurate picture of which specific companies have active sponsorship history.
Which cities in West Virginia have the most automotive H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Charleston and Huntington account for the largest share of automotive-adjacent H-1B filings in West Virginia, given their concentration of manufacturing and industrial employers. Morgantown, home to West Virginia University's engineering programs and associated research partnerships, also attracts technical automotive roles. Smaller industrial communities along the I-64 and I-79 corridors occasionally host supplier operations with H-1B filing history.
What types of automotive roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship in the automotive industry typically applies to roles requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related specialty field. Common qualifying positions include mechanical engineers, manufacturing engineers, quality assurance engineers, automotive design specialists, and embedded systems developers. Roles in supply chain analysis, materials science, and process engineering also regularly appear in LCA filings. General technician or assembly positions without a degree requirement typically do not qualify.
How do I find automotive H-1B sponsorship jobs in West Virginia?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by visa type, industry, and state to surface automotive employers in West Virginia that have verified H-1B sponsorship history, drawn from DOL Labor Condition Application data. This means you're not guessing which employers sponsor. You can also cross-reference roles against O*NET occupation profiles to confirm your target position meets the specialty occupation standard before applying.
Are there any state-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in West Virginia's automotive sector?
West Virginia's automotive sector is smaller than neighboring Ohio or Kentucky, so the number of active H-1B sponsors is more limited. Employers here often serve as Tier 2 or Tier 3 suppliers, which means sponsorship decisions may be influenced by parent company policies rather than local HR teams. Candidates should verify that a specific West Virginia facility, not just the parent company's headquarters elsewhere, has its own LCA filing history before pursuing an application.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B automotive jobs in West Virginia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
