Account Manager Jobs in Kentucky: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a account manager in Kentucky?
Most account manager positions in Kentucky require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, though some employers in manufacturing and logistics will consider candidates with equivalent work experience. There is no state-issued license required to work as an account manager in Kentucky. Employers in sectors like healthcare and insurance often prefer candidates who hold or are working toward a Certified Professional Sales Person credential or a relevant industry certification, and prior experience in a client-facing role gives applicants a strong edge.
How much do account managers make in Kentucky?
Account managers in Kentucky earn a median of about $52,750 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $33,120 for the lowest 10% to over $116,880 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire account managers in Kentucky?
Kentucky account manager roles are posted by Trane Technologies, Genesis Global, and MCC and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Kentucky's concentration of healthcare, insurance, and manufacturing headquarters means large regional employers drive a significant share of account manager openings across the state.
Which Kentucky cities have the most account manager jobs?
Lexington, Louisville, and Kentucky have the most account manager openings in Kentucky. Louisville leads because it is home to major healthcare and insurance headquarters, including Humana, which alone generates substantial account management hiring, while Lexington's mix of technology firms and business services companies supports strong secondary demand, and Bowling Green's manufacturing base, anchored by automotive and consumer goods employers, creates consistent territory sales and account roles.
Are there remote account manager jobs in Kentucky?
Yes, and more than most fields. Account management is desk-friendly for tasks like pipeline management, reporting, and client calls, which makes remote and hybrid arrangements common. About 50% of account manager openings tied to Kentucky are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with fully remote roles most common in software, SaaS, and insurance verticals where client relationships are managed primarily by phone and video.
How can I get hired as a account manager in Kentucky with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a sales development representative or inside sales role, which large Kentucky employers like Humana and regional insurance carriers post regularly and use as a pipeline for account management promotions. Customer success associate and sales coordinator positions at Louisville-based healthcare and financial services firms are also common lateral moves that build the client relationship skills hiring managers want. Completing a business or marketing degree at a Kentucky university, or earning a Certified Professional Sales Person credential while working in a support role, gives entry-level candidates a concrete advantage.
