Position Summary
Georgia State University is seeking to hire an Accounting Assistant. This position is responsible for performing accounting and clerical tasks related to the efficient maintenance and processing of accounts payable transactions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Handle checks/EFT runs.
- AP Check Runs including: confirming bank file and log, preparing AP check trail register, distributing, and ensuring fully updated in a timely manner.
- Pulls checks for pick-up, send email notifications to departments.
- Pulls checks for FedEx, note tracking # and proving transaction record to manager.
- Pull check for void, mark and log.
- Seal checks and prepare for mailing.
- Scan and save copies.
- Prepare Pre-AP EFT registers.
- Support daily AP operations including: reviewing and processing payment request form vouchers for services.
- Assist PO Accountant with processing PO invoices as needed.
- Respond to basic inquiries from campus departments, vendors and provides guidance on invoice submission, payment status inquiries.
- Handle any incoming mail, stamp and distribute.

MINIMUM HIRING QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED and three years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
PREFERRED HIRING QUALIFICATIONS:
- Effective verbal, listening and written communication skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Time management skills.
