Advertising Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a advertising in California?
Most advertising roles in California require a bachelor's degree in advertising, marketing, or communications, though California does not mandate a state-issued license for the profession. Large agencies and in-house teams in Los Angeles and San Francisco expect candidates to present a strong portfolio alongside their degree. Specialized tracks such as media buying, account management, or creative strategy often begin with internships at California agencies, followed by entry-level coordinator or assistant roles that build toward senior positions.
Which companies hire advertisings in California?
Companies currently hiring advertisings in California include Terraboost Media, Uber, and Amazon, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. California's concentration of entertainment studios, tech platforms, and global consumer brands makes it one of the most active states for both agency-side and in-house advertising roles.
Which California cities have the most advertising jobs?
San Francisco, San Jose, and Culver City lead California for advertising openings. Los Angeles dominates because of its entertainment industry, major agency offices, and global brand headquarters, while San Francisco and San Diego draw volume from technology companies and regional media firms that maintain sizable marketing and advertising teams.
Are there remote advertising jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 69% of advertising openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of the work involves digital platforms, software tools, and collaborative documents rather than physical presence. Roles in performance marketing, programmatic buying, and copywriting are the most consistently available as fully remote positions.
How can I get hired as a advertising in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an internship at a California agency or in-house creative team, converting to a coordinator or assistant account role after graduation. Large California employers including entertainment studios and technology companies run formal internship and new-grad programs that recruit directly from California universities. Building a portfolio of spec campaigns or freelance projects, and earning a Google Ads or Meta certification, gives candidates without agency experience a concrete credential that hiring managers in the state expect to see.
Where can I find and apply to advertising jobs in California?
You can find and apply to advertising jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings across agencies, in-house teams, and media companies. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience and apply directly to the ones that fit.
