Advertising Jobs in Minnesota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a advertising in Minnesota?
Advertising in Minnesota does not require a state-issued license, so the path centers on education and portfolio development. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in advertising, marketing, or communications from a Minnesota institution such as the University of Minnesota or Minnesota State University. Building a portfolio of real or speculative campaigns, completing internships with Twin Cities agencies or corporate marketing teams, and earning platform certifications in Google Ads or Meta Blueprint strengthens candidacy considerably.
Which companies hire advertisings in Minnesota?
Employers hiring advertisings in Minnesota right now include TheHomeMag, LPI, and Gopher Sport, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Minnesota's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters and major regional brands means both large in-house creative departments and full-service agencies compete for the same talent pool in the Twin Cities.
Which Minnesota cities have the most advertising jobs?
The cities with the most advertising openings in Minnesota are Eden Prairie, Minneapolis, and Owatonna. Minneapolis drives the largest share of demand, anchored by corporate headquarters such as Target and General Mills alongside a dense cluster of independent and regional agencies, while surrounding suburbs and secondary markets like Rochester contribute openings tied to healthcare and manufacturing brands headquartered there.
Are there remote advertising jobs in Minnesota?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 60% of advertising openings tied to Minnesota are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the largely desk-based and digital nature of modern advertising work. Roles focused on paid media management, copywriting, and campaign analytics tend to be the most consistently remote, while account management and creative direction positions more often require in-office or hybrid presence with Twin Cities clients.
How can I get hired as a advertising in Minnesota with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an internship or junior coordinator role at a Twin Cities agency or a corporate marketing department. Large Minnesota employers such as Target and General Mills run structured marketing rotational programs that welcome candidates without professional experience, prioritizing strong portfolios and platform certifications. Adjacent roles in social media coordination or marketing operations at Minnesota nonprofits or regional media companies also provide a practical bridge into advertising, and completing Google Ads or Meta Blueprint certifications before applying gives entry-level candidates a measurable edge.
