Assistant Manager - Sales Jobs in Michigan: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a assistant manager - sales in Michigan?
Michigan does not require a state-issued license to work as an assistant manager - sales, so the path runs through experience and education rather than a licensing board. Most Michigan employers expect a combination of frontline sales experience and either an associate or bachelor's degree in business or marketing. Building a record in a sales associate or senior sales rep role at a Michigan retailer, distributor, or automotive dealership is the most direct route, followed by an internal promotion or a lateral move into an assistant management opening.
Which companies hire assistant manager - saless in Michigan?
Michigan assistant manager - sales roles are posted by My Wireless, Rent-A-Center, and Lifestyles Hot Tubs and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Michigan's strong automotive, manufacturing distribution, and big-box retail sectors mean assistant manager - sales openings appear regularly at dealerships, regional chains, and industrial supply companies throughout the state.
Which Michigan cities have the most assistant manager - sales jobs?
Taylor, Novi, and Troy have the most assistant manager - sales openings in Michigan. Detroit leads because of its density of automotive dealerships, corporate retail headquarters, and large distribution operations, while Grand Rapids draws consistent openings from Meijer's home base and a growing consumer-goods cluster, and Lansing benefits from state-government-adjacent commercial activity and mid-size retail chains serving the capital region.
Are there remote assistant manager - sales jobs in Michigan?
Yes, but they're rare. Assistant manager - sales roles typically require on-site team supervision, floor presence, and in-person customer interaction, which limits full remote availability. About 25% of assistant manager - sales openings tied to Michigan are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those tend to cluster in B2B account management or inside sales leadership where team oversight can happen digitally rather than on a retail floor.
How can I get hired as a assistant manager - sales in Michigan with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a sales associate or key holder at a Michigan retailer or dealership and moving into an assistant manager role through internal promotion. Meijer, auto groups like Penske Automotive, and regional chains in the Detroit and Grand Rapids areas regularly promote high performers from within. Completing a business or marketing degree at a Michigan institution, or earning a sales certification, strengthens candidacy. Roles like shift supervisor, team lead, or senior sales rep in adjacent Michigan industries also create a credible bridge into assistant management.
