National Sales Manager Jobs in Michigan: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a national sales manager in Michigan?
Most national sales managers in Michigan follow a path that starts with a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a technical field relevant to the industry they target. From there, several years in quota-carrying sales roles, often in Michigan's dominant sectors like automotive, medical devices, or manufacturing distribution, builds the territory and account management foundation employers look for. Michigan does not require a state-issued license for this role, so consistent performance results and people-management experience are the primary credentials that move candidates into national leadership positions.
How much do national sales managers make in Michigan?
National sales managers in Michigan earn a median of about $136,870 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $69,790 for the lowest 10% to over $230,070 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire national sales managers in Michigan?
Employers hiring national sales managers in Michigan right now include Total Quality Logistics (TQL), Jobot, and BISSELL, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Michigan's concentration of automotive, medical technology, and industrial manufacturing firms means national sales manager roles here often carry cross-industry exposure and large account portfolios.
Which Michigan cities have the most national sales manager jobs?
Wixom, Grand Rapids, and Troy have the most national sales manager openings in Michigan. Detroit anchors the list as the headquarters base for automotive OEMs and their supplier networks, Grand Rapids draws openings from its dense cluster of manufacturing and healthcare companies, and Ann Arbor attracts roles tied to its technology, life sciences, and university-linked commercial ecosystem.
Are there remote national sales manager jobs in Michigan?
Yes, and they're more common than in many management fields. About 50% of national sales manager openings tied to Michigan are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the territory-based nature of the work. Strategic and administrative responsibilities, such as forecasting, pipeline review, and team coaching, are the functions most likely to be performed remotely, while client visits and field coaching typically require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a national sales manager in Michigan with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is a business development representative or territory sales role at a Michigan manufacturer, distributor, or healthcare company, where consistent quota attainment creates a visible internal promotion track. Large Michigan employers like automotive suppliers and medical device companies run structured sales development programs that move high performers into team-lead roles within a few years. Building a demonstrable pipeline record in a named vertical, such as automotive aftermarket or hospital systems, strengthens a candidacy more than general sales volume. Adjacent roles like sales operations analyst or account manager at a Michigan-headquartered firm are also common stepping stones.
Where can I find and apply to national sales manager jobs in Michigan?
You can find and apply to national sales manager jobs in Michigan on Migrate Mate, which lists current Michigan openings updated regularly. Search the listings, identify roles that match your experience and target industry, and apply directly to each one. No signup is required to search or apply.
