Auditor Jobs in Kentucky: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a auditor in Kentucky?
To become a licensed CPA auditor in Kentucky, you must pass the Uniform CPA Exam and meet the education and experience requirements set by the Kentucky State Board of Accountancy, which oversees licensure in the state. Most positions require a bachelor's degree with at least accounting credit hours meeting board standards. Internal auditor roles may also pursue the CIA credential through the Institute of Internal Auditors as an alternative path.
How much do auditors make in Kentucky?
Auditors in Kentucky earn a median of about $75,270 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $50,750 for the lowest 10% to over $121,230 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire auditors in Kentucky?
Employers hiring auditors in Kentucky right now include Davies, EXL Service, and EXL, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Kentucky's mix of large healthcare systems, state agencies, insurance carriers, and manufacturing headquarters means audit demand is spread across both the public and private sectors.
Which Kentucky cities have the most auditor jobs?
Louisville, Lexington, and Bowling Green consistently have the most auditor openings in Kentucky. Louisville drives the largest share of listings because of its concentration of Fortune 500 companies, major healthcare employers, and financial services firms, while Frankfort draws demand as the state capital and hub for government and regulatory audit work.
Are there remote auditor jobs in Kentucky?
Yes, and more than many fields, since audit work is largely analytical and document-driven. About 43% of auditor openings tied to Kentucky are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based nature of much of the work. Compliance audits and IT audits tend to be the most remote-friendly specializations within the field.
How can I get hired as a auditor in Kentucky with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a staff auditor or audit associate role in public accounting, where Kentucky firms such as regional CPA practices and the Big Four offices in Louisville hire new graduates each year. Internships during your accounting program are the most direct bridge to a full-time offer. Candidates who have passed at least one section of the CPA Exam or hold a relevant certification like the CIA stand out, as do those who have experience in adjacent roles such as accounting analyst or accounts payable specialist.
Where can I find and apply to auditor jobs in Kentucky?
You can find and apply to auditor jobs in Kentucky on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the state. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
