Business Consultant Jobs in Wisconsin: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business consultant in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin does not require a state-issued license to work as a business consultant, so entry depends on education and credentials rather than a registration board. Most employers in Milwaukee and Madison expect at minimum a bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field. Earning a recognized certification such as the Certified Management Consultant designation or a project management credential strengthens candidacy considerably and is commonly listed in Wisconsin job postings across industries from manufacturing to healthcare.
How much do business consultants make in Wisconsin?
Business consultants in Wisconsin earn a median of about $98,780 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $64,120 for the lowest 10% to over $157,620 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire business consultants in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin business consultant roles are posted by Advisors Management Group, Nsight, and Hunter Engineering Company and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of October 2026. Wisconsin's concentration of financial services headquarters, large health systems, and industrial manufacturers means consulting demand stays active well beyond the major national firms.
Which Wisconsin cities have the most business consultant jobs?
Milwaukee, Madison, and Green Bay hold the most business consultant openings in Wisconsin. Milwaukee leads because of its density of financial services firms, corporate headquarters, and regional offices, while Madison's government, university, and growing tech sectors drive steady advisory demand, and Green Bay's manufacturing and logistics base supports operational consulting work.
Are there remote business consultant jobs in Wisconsin?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 70% of business consultant openings tied to Wisconsin are remote or hybrid as of October 2026, reflecting the desk-based and analytical nature of most consulting work. Strategy, financial analysis, and project management engagements transfer most readily to remote arrangements, while on-site client implementation roles tend to require a local presence.
How can I get hired as a business consultant in Wisconsin with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an analyst or associate-level role at a regional consulting firm or a corporate strategy team inside a large Wisconsin employer. Milwaukee-area firms and companies like Northwestern Mutual and Manpower Group hire through structured rotational analyst programs aimed at recent graduates. Lateral moves from adjacent roles in finance, project coordination, or data analysis are common entry points, and earning a PMP or Six Sigma certification before applying gives candidates without direct consulting experience a concrete credential to lean on.
Where can I find and apply to business consultant jobs in Wisconsin?
You can find and apply to business consultant jobs in Wisconsin on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across Milwaukee, Madison, Green Bay, and other Wisconsin markets. Search the listings for roles that match your experience level and specialization, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
