Business Development Lead Jobs in North Dakota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business development lead in North Dakota?
Business development lead roles in North Dakota do not require a state-issued license, so the path runs through education and experience rather than a credentialing board. Most employers want a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, followed by several years in sales, account management, or a client-facing role. Building familiarity with North Dakota's dominant sectors, particularly energy, agribusiness, and financial services, makes candidates significantly more competitive with local employers.
How much do business development leads make in North Dakota?
Business development leads in North Dakota earn a median of about $79,060 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $41,120 for the lowest 10% to over $136,430 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire business development leads in North Dakota?
Employers hiring business development leads in North Dakota right now include CVS Health, Bartlett & West, and CommonSpirit Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. North Dakota's mix of energy cooperatives, regional banks, and healthcare systems means demand stays relatively steady throughout the year across both Bismarck and Fargo.
Which North Dakota cities have the most business development lead jobs?
Bismarck, Fargo, and Minot have the most business development lead openings in North Dakota. Fargo drives the largest share thanks to its concentration of financial services firms, technology companies, and regional corporate offices, while Bismarck's role as the state capital brings in healthcare systems and energy sector employers that regularly recruit for business development roles.
Are there remote business development lead jobs in North Dakota?
Yes, and more than you might expect for a client-facing role. About 0% of business development lead openings tied to North Dakota are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how much of the work, pipeline management, outreach, and reporting, can be done off-site. The parts most likely to stay in-person are initial client meetings and relationship-building with local agriculture and energy accounts.
How can I get hired as a business development lead in North Dakota with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving from a sales development representative or account coordinator role, both of which appear regularly at North Dakota employers like Sanford Health, Bell Bank, and regional energy firms. Employers in Fargo and Bismarck also tend to promote internally from inside sales teams. A demonstrated record of hitting quota in any client-facing role, even in a different industry, carries more weight than formal credentials for most North Dakota hiring managers.
