Business Office Associate Jobs in Virginia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business office associate in Virginia?
Most business office associate roles in Virginia require at minimum an associate degree in business administration, healthcare management, or a related field, though many employers prefer a bachelor's degree. Virginia does not require a state-issued license for the general business office associate title, but roles in healthcare billing and revenue cycle often expect familiarity with coding systems such as ICD-10. Completing a medical billing certificate through a Virginia community college strengthens your application considerably.
Which companies hire business office associates in Virginia?
Companies currently hiring business office associates in Virginia include Heartland Dental, CarMax, and Saber Healthcare, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Virginia's dense concentration of health systems and federal contractors means business office associate openings appear consistently across both the clinical and government-facing sectors throughout the year.
Which Virginia cities have the most business office associate jobs?
Virginia Beach, Leesburg, and Richmond lead Virginia in business office associate openings. Northern Virginia's concentration of federal agencies and large government contractors drives strong demand there, while Richmond's role as a major healthcare and insurance hub anchors openings in the central region, and Virginia Beach benefits from Sentara Healthcare's large regional footprint and an active military-support services sector.
Are there remote business office associate jobs in Virginia?
Yes, and more than many comparable administrative roles, particularly in revenue cycle, billing, and insurance verification functions where work is largely computer-based. About 33% of business office associate openings tied to Virginia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how common desk-based billing and administrative coordination work has become. Front-desk patient access and on-site registration roles remain firmly in-person.
How can I get hired as a business office associate in Virginia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for patient access representative or administrative assistant roles at large Virginia health systems, which routinely hire candidates without direct experience and provide on-the-job training in billing and registration. Inova Health System and Sentara Healthcare both run structured onboarding for new administrative staff across Virginia. Earning a medical billing certificate through a Virginia community college such as Northern Virginia Community College or John Tyler Community College gives candidates a clear credential edge and signals readiness to employers.
Where can I find and apply to business office associate jobs in Virginia?
