Job Description - Community Relations Manager
Baileys Harbor Community Association
Position Purpose
Serve as the strategic leader and primary external representative of BHCA. This position develops organizational direction, strengthens community partnerships, grows membership and sponsorship support, advances fundraising initiatives, and works directly with the Board to ensure mission fulfillment.

Key Responsibilities
Membership & Community Relations
- Develop and execute membership growth strategies.
- Lead member retention and engagement efforts.
- Build relationships with businesses, elected officials, civic organizations, nonprofits, and community stakeholders.
- Serve as BHCA spokesperson and ambassador.
Fundraising & Resource Development
- Develop sponsorship programs and funding strategies.
- Identify and pursue grant opportunities.
- Cultivate donor and sponsor relationships.
- Work with the Board on financial sustainability initiatives.
Volunteer Program Leadership
- Establish volunteer engagement strategy.
- Develop volunteer pathways, policies, and recognition programs.
- Monitor volunteer satisfaction and retention.
Strategic Leadership
- Lead annual and long-range strategic planning.
- Develop organizational priorities, goals, and performance measures.
- Evaluate organizational effectiveness and recommend improvements.
- Identify new programs and community initiatives.
Governance & Board Support
- Prepare strategic reports and recommendations.
- Partner with the Board on policy development.
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit requirements, permits, licenses, and insurance obligations.

Qualifications
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree of bachelor’s degree preferred
Proven track record of successful community engagement management, independent
Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines consistently
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Maturity and patience – able to work collaboratively in a developing organization
Preferred:
Experience with nonprofit organizations or community associations
Project management certification or training
Email marketing platform experience
Volunteer coordination experience
Knowledge of Baileys Harbor and Door County
Working Conditions:
Primary office at BHCA/Visitor Center
Some remote work possible for specific tasks during off season
Evening and weekend hours required during events/meetings
Increased hours during peak season (May-October)
Reduced hours available during off season (November- April)
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
Physical ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
Extended standing periods during events
Navigation of stairs is required
Other duties as assigned
Pay: $55,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
