Translate your credentials before applying
If your medical assistant training came from outside the U.S., get your credentials evaluated by a NACES-approved agency before submitting applications. ChenMed's clinical roles require demonstrable competency, and unverified foreign credentials slow down or stall sponsorship decisions.
Target ChenMed's senior care clinic locations
ChenMed operates in underserved urban markets where clinical staffing demand is high year-round. Focus your search on markets where they're actively expanding, since new clinic openings create the most urgent hiring need and the strongest case for sponsorship.
Clarify OPT or CPT authorization early in interviews
If you're on F-1 status, confirm with the recruiter whether the role qualifies under your STEM OPT extension or standard OPT period. Clinical Medical Assistant positions at ChenMed are typically full-time and structured, which supports valid OPT employment authorization documentation.
Ask specifically about the H-1B filing timeline
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed in April for an October 1 start date. If you receive an offer in late spring or summer, work with ChenMed's HR team to confirm whether a cap-exempt pathway or a delayed start aligns with their hiring plan.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by sponsorship type
Not every ChenMed Clinical Medical Assistant posting will specify visa support upfront. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for ChenMed openings that match your visa category, saving time and letting you prioritize applications where sponsorship is already confirmed.
Prepare documentation for USCIS specialty occupation review
For H-1B sponsorship, USCIS will evaluate whether a Clinical Medical Assistant role qualifies as a specialty occupation. Gather evidence that your position requires a specific degree field, such as health sciences or a related discipline, not just general postsecondary education.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does ChenMed sponsor H-1B visas for Clinical Medical Assistants?
ChenMed does sponsor H-1B visas for Clinical Medical Assistant roles, though approval depends on the specific position meeting USCIS specialty occupation standards. The role must require at least a bachelor's degree in a related field. If you're cap-subject, petitions are filed in April with an October 1 start. Confirm sponsorship availability directly with the recruiter during the offer stage, as not every posting is guaranteed to qualify.
How do I apply for Clinical Medical Assistant jobs at ChenMed?
You can find and apply for Clinical Medical Assistant openings at ChenMed through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship type so you can identify positions that match your immigration status. From there, the process typically involves an initial phone screen, a clinical competency assessment, and an in-person interview at a local clinic. Prepare to discuss patient care experience and any relevant certifications such as CMA or RMA credentials.
Which visa types does ChenMed commonly use for Clinical Medical Assistant roles?
ChenMed sponsors multiple visa categories for Clinical Medical Assistants, including H-1B for specialty occupation workers, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying health professions, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students completing clinical training. For longer-term pathways, ChenMed has supported EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship, which involves PERM labor certification through the Department of Labor before an immigrant petition can be filed.
What qualifications does ChenMed expect for Clinical Medical Assistant positions?
ChenMed's Clinical Medical Assistant roles generally require a postsecondary certificate or associate's degree in medical assisting, though some positions prefer a bachelor's degree in a health-related field, which strengthens an H-1B specialty occupation argument. Certified Medical Assistant credentialing through AAMA is commonly expected. Experience in primary care, geriatrics, or high-volume clinical settings is a strong differentiator given ChenMed's senior-focused care model.
How do I time my application around visa sponsorship deadlines?
Timing depends on your current status. F-1 OPT students should apply at least three to four months before OPT expiration to allow time for an offer, onboarding, and any H-1B preparation. H-1B cap-subject candidates need an offer in place before early April for USCIS lottery registration. TN visa candidates can move faster since TN status can be obtained at a port of entry without waiting for a cap cycle.
