Tips for Finding DevOps Jobs at HP
Tailor your resume to HP's platform stack
HP's DevOps roles frequently emphasize cloud-native tooling, Kubernetes, and hybrid infrastructure tied to its hardware ecosystem. Align your resume to reflect experience with those environments before applying, so your profile passes automated screening.
Target HP's enterprise and cloud divisions
HP's largest DevOps hiring concentrates in teams supporting cloud services, print infrastructure software, and enterprise IT platforms. Filtering job postings by those divisions surfaces roles where sponsorship requests are a routine part of the hiring workflow.
Raise visa sponsorship early in recruiter conversations
HP uses structured recruiting pipelines for technical roles. Ask the recruiter directly whether the specific team has sponsored the visa type you need before advancing to technical interviews, so you're not discovering a mismatch at the offer stage.
Understand how H-1B timing affects your start date
If HP files an H-1B cap-subject petition on your behalf, the earliest USCIS-allowed start date is October 1. Factor that into offer negotiations, especially if you're transitioning off OPT or a 60-day grace period.
Prepare documentation that supports a specialty occupation determination
For DevOps roles, USCIS scrutinizes whether the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Gather transcripts, degree equivalency evaluations if needed, and role-specific job descriptions that clearly tie your engineering credentials to the day-to-day responsibilities.
Use Migrate Mate to find HP DevOps openings that sponsor visas
Searching for sponsor-confirmed DevOps roles across a large company like HP is time-consuming. Migrate Mate filters job listings by visa type and employer so you can go straight to openings where sponsorship is already confirmed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does HP sponsor H-1B visas for DevOps roles?
Yes, HP sponsors H-1B visas for DevOps positions. The process involves HP filing a Labor Condition Application with the DOL and then submitting a petition to USCIS on your behalf. Cap-subject petitions are tied to the annual lottery, so timing your application and offer letter to align with the April filing window matters.
How do I apply for DevOps jobs at HP?
Applications go through HP's careers portal, where DevOps roles are listed under software engineering and IT infrastructure. Tailor your application to the specific division, since HP's hardware, cloud, and print software teams each have distinct tooling requirements. You can also browse sponsor-confirmed HP DevOps openings directly through Migrate Mate to narrow your search faster.
Which visa types does HP commonly sponsor for DevOps engineers?
HP sponsors H-1B visas for most DevOps candidates and also files E-3 petitions for Australian citizens. For longer-term pathways, HP supports employment-based Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 and EB-3 categories, which typically involve a PERM labor certification filed with the DOL before the immigrant petition is submitted to USCIS.
What qualifications does HP expect for sponsored DevOps roles?
HP's DevOps postings generally require a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field. Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization platforms like Kubernetes or Docker, and cloud providers such as AWS or Azure is expected. Roles supporting HP's enterprise hardware divisions may also require familiarity with on-premises infrastructure and hybrid cloud environments.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take when hired at HP?
For H-1B cap-subject cases, the process runs from April registration through an October 1 start date, assuming selection in the lottery. E-3 petitions typically process faster, often within a few weeks if filed at a U.S. consulate. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship is a multi-year process, and the timeline depends heavily on your country of birth and USCIS and DOL processing queues.
