INTRODUCTION
Sports Facility Consultant - Sports Construction Business Development
This Jobot Job is hosted by: Madison Fincher
Are you a fit? Easy Apply now by clicking the "Easy Apply" button and sending us your resume.
Salary: $85,000 - $90,000 per year
A bit about us:
Full-scale, turnkey sports facility contractor serving schools, parks and municipalities across 30 states — with in-house key subs in every market they operate. Their portfolio spans multi-field natural-to-synthetic turf conversions (football, baseball, track), indoor sports facilities, and marquee builds like the Green Bay Packers practice facility. The company has doubled revenue year-over-year and is actively expanding its private-sector footprint. This is a hunting business development role on a small, high-performing team reporting into a BD & Marketing leader who has flipped the business from 90% turf-manufacturer-driven to 90% public prime work in under a year, growing revenue 150% in the process. The company is now investing in private-sector growth — and this hire is central to that strategy.
Why join us?
Compensation & Perks:
- Base salary: $85K–$90K, commensurate with experience
- Uncapped commission plan, scaling with gross profit margin on closed deals (starting around 1.5% and increasing as margin performance grows — top performers with strong relationships have reached significantly higher tiers)
- Commission paid out as projects bill
- Company vehicle (truck) + corporate card for travel
- Company laptop (Mac or PC, your choice)
- Backlog goal of $100M+ and a $30M revenue target for the BD function — real runway to build something and be recognized for it
Why Now?
This company is in growth mode — not maintenance mode. Leadership has already proven the private-sector pivot works (see: multi-year NAIA-level and collegiate turf partnerships in progress) and is looking for someone who wants to build a book of business, not inherit one.
JOB DETAILS
What You'll Do:
- Hunt new business across the public bid/RFP space and, increasingly, the private negotiated space — pickleball, tennis, and other emerging athletic facility segments.
- Build and manage relationships across the full project ecosystem: architects & engineers, owners, superintendents, general contractors, parks & rec departments, and municipalities.
- Develop a strategic, long-term network rather than transactional relationships — GCs today may be construction managers tomorrow, and vice versa.
- Target athletic facility projects of 80,000+ sq ft, with a goal of closing roughly 20 projects per year.
- Represent the company at industry conferences and events (this is a year-round sales cycle, not seasonal).
- Source public opportunities and hand off qualified leads to the preconstruction/estimating team.
- Partner with marketing on positioning and lead generation as the company scales its BD function.
What We're Looking For:
- Experience selling services, not just product — someone who can speak the language of construction and guide a customer through the full project journey, not just push a turf order.
- A go-getter who's comfortable saying "I don't know" and then going and finding the answer — self-directed, resourceful, and coachable.
- Prior experience in sports construction, athletic facility development, or a related build environment strongly preferred.
- Candidates with backgrounds as former collegiate or professional athletes are a strong fit — their networks tend to align directly with the buyer personas in this space.
- Experience with cooperative (co-op) purchasing and strategic approaches to public procurement is a major plus.
- Comfort managing a multi-million-dollar pipeline — average deal size runs ~ $11/sq ft, meaning an 80K sq ft project is nearly $1M; top performers close $1M+ deals.
- Based in or willing to cover the Central/Southern U.S. footprint (current coverage includes KS/OK/MO and TX/GA-area relationships, with strong emerging demand in KY, MS, TN, and IN).

Frame your credentials for staffing contexts
Consulting managers in staffing are evaluated on client management and revenue impact, not just project delivery. Reframe your resume around business development outcomes, client retention, and team leadership so Jobot's recruiters immediately see a fit.
Target Jobot's vertical-specific consulting openings
Jobot staffs consulting managers across multiple practice areas including tech, finance, and legal. Filter your search by the vertical where your domain expertise is strongest rather than applying broadly across all open Manager - Consulting postings.
Use Migrate Mate to surface Jobot's active openings
Jobot posts Manager - Consulting roles across multiple job boards and its own site simultaneously. Use Migrate Mate to browse visa-sponsored openings at Jobot in one place so you're not manually tracking listings across platforms.
Clarify your visa status upfront in outreach
Jobot sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, and TN visas for this role. When reaching out to a Jobot recruiter directly, state your current status and authorization timeline early so the conversation stays focused on roles where sponsorship is already budgeted.
Confirm LCA filing timelines before accepting an offer
Your employer must file a certified Labor Condition Application with the DOL before USCIS can process an H-1B petition. Ask Jobot's hiring team what their typical LCA-to-petition turnaround looks like so you can plan around your current status expiration.
Align your start date with OPT or TN transition windows
If you're on F-1 OPT, your 60-day grace period sets a hard ceiling on when you need a new employer of record. If you're transitioning from TN, confirm whether Jobot will support a new TN application or bridge you through the H-1B cap season.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Jobot sponsor H-1B visas for Manager - Consultings?
Yes, Jobot has sponsored H-1B visas for Manager - Consulting roles. Because Jobot operates as a staffing and recruiting firm, sponsorship decisions are typically tied to specific client engagements and headcount needs. Sponsorship availability can vary by practice area and timing, so confirming with the recruiter early in the process is the most reliable approach.
How do I apply for Manager - Consulting jobs at Jobot?
You can apply directly through Jobot's website or find their visa-sponsored Manager - Consulting openings on Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles where sponsorship has been confirmed. When applying, tailor your application to highlight client-facing leadership experience and any vertical expertise relevant to the practice area the role supports.
Which visa types are commonly used for Manager - Consulting roles at Jobot?
Jobot has sponsored H-1B, F-1 OPT, and TN visas for the Manager - Consulting function. The TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying management and consulting categories. F-1 OPT is typically used for candidates already in the U.S. completing their authorization period before transitioning to H-1B sponsorship.
What qualifications are expected for a Manager - Consulting role at Jobot?
Jobot's consulting manager roles generally require a bachelor's degree in business, management, or a related field, along with demonstrated experience leading client engagements or managing delivery teams. Because Jobot is a staffing firm, experience working in or alongside talent acquisition, workforce solutions, or professional services environments is a meaningful differentiator.
How do I time my application around my current visa status?
If you're on H-1B, you can transfer your status to a new employer once Jobot files a petition with USCIS, which allows you to start before approval. If you're on OPT, factor in your expiration date and whether you qualify for a STEM extension, which can provide up to 24 additional months of work authorization before H-1B sponsorship is required.
