Job Details
A Day in This Role
Your morning starts with a quick huddle on the day's dispatch board — who's where, what's urgent, what can wait. You walk the shop floor, check in with a technician working through a tricky install, then sit down with last week's numbers: labor hours, job costs, collections. You take a call from a key account who wants a status update, personally, because that's the kind of relationship you maintain. By afternoon you're reviewing a new hire's first week and thinking through how a preventative-maintenance push could reduce next month's emergency calls.
THE ROLE
- Own day-to-day P&L for the branch, overseeing Sales, Project Management/Customer Service, Technicians, Safety, Training, Equipment, Inventory & Purchasing, and Dispatching.
- Manage scheduling & dispatch, staff training, customer service coordination, billing/AR/AP, and invoicing/collections.
- Hire, train, evaluate, and lead the full branch team.
- Build and promote a safety-first culture, including a preventative maintenance program across all locations.
- Review weekly/monthly sales, product mix, and profitability reports; maintain close contact with key customers.
- Provide timely financial and KPI reporting to company leadership.
- Recruit talented employees across all functions of the business.
- Represent the branch in the local community — trade organizations, civic associations, and networking that supports growth.
WHAT YOU BRING — MUST-HAVES
- Proven experience managing and directing the operations of a business unit, with direct P&L ownership.
- Strong customer service orientation and demonstrated ability to drive satisfaction.
- Financial acumen — comfortable analyzing KPIs and financial statements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
WHAT YOU BRING — NICE-TO-HAVES
- Commercial door, dock, or access-control industry experience specifically.
- Prior career path through a Service Manager or similar technical-operations track.
- Experience integrating a business post-acquisition.
CAREER PATH
Branch Managers who build strong, profitable operations are natural candidates for multi-branch or regional oversight as the platform continues to expand through acquisition — this is a company actively looking to grow its next layer of regional leadership from within.

Document Your Technical Certifications Early
Operations Technician roles at Jobot often require verifiable credentials like PLC certifications or OSHA training. Gather official copies before applying so Jobot's recruiters can move quickly once they match you to a client opening.
Target Jobot Roles With Direct Client Placement
Jobot operates as a staffing firm, meaning the end employer is the actual H-1B petitioner. Ask your Jobot recruiter upfront whether a role is a direct placement, since that determines which company files your petition and controls the sponsorship timeline.
Search Verified Openings Through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Operations Technician listings at Jobot by visa type before you apply. Sorting by sponsorship eligibility saves you from pursuing openings where the end client has already ruled out international candidates.
Clarify OPT Cap-Gap Coverage During Offer Negotiations
If your F-1 OPT expires while an H-1B petition is pending, the 60-day cap-gap extension from USCIS keeps you authorized. Confirm with Jobot's compliance team that your start date and the client's timeline account for this window before you accept an offer.
Align Your Resume to DOL Specialty Occupation Standards
H-1B approval for an Operations Technician role requires the position to meet DOL's specialty occupation criteria. Frame your resume around the engineering or technical degree requirements the role demands, not just the day-to-day tasks you performed.
Confirm E-Verify Enrollment With the End Client
Because Jobot places you with a client company, that client must be E-Verify enrolled to legally onboard a sponsored worker. Ask Jobot to confirm the client's E-Verify status before you invest time in the interview process.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Jobot sponsor H-1B visas for Operations Technicians?
Jobot does sponsor H-1B visas for Operations Technician roles, though sponsorship is typically tied to the end client rather than Jobot itself, since Jobot operates as a staffing firm. The client company becomes the H-1B petitioner, so sponsorship availability varies by placement. Ask your Jobot recruiter which roles involve clients who are open to sponsorship before advancing in the process.
How do I apply for Operations Technician jobs at Jobot?
You can browse and apply for Operations Technician positions at Jobot through Migrate Mate, which filters listings by visa sponsorship eligibility so you can focus on roles where international candidates are welcome. Once you apply, a Jobot recruiter typically reaches out directly to assess your technical background and discuss which client openings fit your credentials and visa situation.
Which visa types are commonly used for Operations Technician roles at Jobot?
H-1B and F-1 OPT are the most common visa types for Operations Technician placements at Jobot. TN visas are also an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals if the role meets the USMCA occupational categories. The right visa depends on your nationality, degree field, and the specific technical requirements of the client role Jobot is filling.
What qualifications or experience does Jobot expect for Operations Technician roles?
Jobot's Operations Technician postings typically require a combination of hands-on technical experience and formal credentials, such as an associate's or bachelor's degree in engineering technology, electronics, or a related field. Client employers frequently look for familiarity with equipment maintenance, process control systems, or quality assurance protocols. Certifications like PLC programming or OSHA compliance training strengthen your candidacy and support the specialty occupation case for H-1B sponsorship.
How do I manage the H-1B filing timeline when placed through Jobot?
Because Jobot is a staffing firm, the end client drives the H-1B filing timeline rather than Jobot directly. The annual H-1B cap registration opens in March, with a lottery selection shortly after. If you're on OPT, your employer needs to file before your OPT expires, and USCIS's cap-gap provision covers you during the gap if the petition is filed on time. Coordinate with both Jobot and the client's HR or legal team at least 60 days before any OPT expiration.
