Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Operations Technician Jobs at Thermo Fisher Scientific Jobs
Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
H-1B eligibility for Operations Technician roles hinges on whether the position requires a specific bachelor's degree field. Target Thermo Fisher postings that list a degree in biochemistry, chemical engineering, or life sciences as a hard requirement, not a preference.
Target Thermo Fisher sites with active manufacturing operations
Operations Technician openings are concentrated at Thermo Fisher's bioproduction and pharmaceutical manufacturing sites. Searching by facility type narrows your applications to locations with recurring technical hiring rather than one-off postings.
Prepare GMP documentation experience before interviews
Thermo Fisher's operations roles require familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practice protocols. Document specific GMP tasks from prior lab or production roles in your resume, because interviewers will probe this directly when assessing technical readiness.
Understand the LCA filing step before accepting an offer
Before Thermo Fisher files your H-1B petition, DOL must certify a Labor Condition Application confirming the offered wage meets prevailing wage levels for your worksite location. Knowing this step exists helps you set realistic start-date expectations with your hiring manager.
Browse verified Operations Technician openings on Migrate Mate
Filter for Operations Technician roles at Thermo Fisher Scientific by visa type on Migrate Mate to surface only positions where sponsorship is confirmed. This removes the guesswork of cold-applying to postings that don't explicitly address work authorization.

Find Operations Technician at Thermo Fisher Scientific JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Thermo Fisher Scientific sponsor H-1B visas for Operations Technicians?
Yes, Thermo Fisher Scientific sponsors H-1B visas for Operations Technician roles where the position qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a specific degree in a technical field such as biochemistry, life sciences, or chemical engineering. Your offer letter and job description need to reflect that degree requirement clearly, as this supports the H-1B petition that Thermo Fisher files with USCIS on your behalf.
How do I apply for Operations Technician jobs at Thermo Fisher Scientific?
Apply directly through Thermo Fisher Scientific's careers portal, searching for Operations Technician openings filtered by location and business unit. You can also browse verified sponsorship-confirmed postings on Migrate Mate, which makes it easier to identify roles where Thermo Fisher has indicated willingness to support work authorization. Tailor your application to highlight GMP experience, laboratory operations skills, and any relevant degree coursework.
Which visa types does Thermo Fisher Scientific commonly use for Operations Technician roles?
Thermo Fisher supports several visa pathways for Operations Technicians, including H-1B for specialty occupation roles, F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates, and TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying technical occupations. For longer-term authorization, Thermo Fisher also sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card petitions for employees in ongoing operations roles, typically after a period of employment.
What qualifications does Thermo Fisher Scientific expect for Operations Technician roles?
Most Operations Technician postings at Thermo Fisher require a bachelor's degree in a life sciences, chemistry, or engineering discipline, along with hands-on experience in a regulated manufacturing or laboratory environment. Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practice, cleanroom protocols, and documentation standards is frequently listed as a core requirement rather than a preference, which also matters for H-1B specialty occupation eligibility.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take after receiving an offer from Thermo Fisher Scientific?
Timeline depends on the visa type. For H-1B, Thermo Fisher must first file a Labor Condition Application with DOL, which typically takes one to two weeks, before submitting the I-129 petition to USCIS. Standard H-1B adjudication can take three to six months, though premium processing shortens that to roughly 15 business days. F-1 OPT or TN sponsorship generally moves faster and doesn't follow the same cap-season schedule.
