Align your PE licensure timeline with Olsson's expectations
Olsson recruits Civil Project Engineers at both EIT and licensed PE levels, but project lead roles typically require licensure. If you're still pursuing your PE, clarify your exam timeline during interviews so hiring managers can plan your sponsorship filing accordingly.

Use Migrate Mate to identify open Civil Project Engineer roles at Olsson
Filter by visa type and role on Migrate Mate to surface current Civil Project Engineer openings at Olsson that are open to sponsored candidates, so you're not spending time on listings where sponsorship isn't on the table.
Negotiate your H-1B start date around the April filing window
If you receive an offer outside of OPT or CPT, your H-1B petition must be filed in April for an October 1 start. Work with Olsson's HR team early to confirm they'll meet the registration deadline and build your offer letter timeline backward from October.

Find Civil Project Engineer at Olsson JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Olsson sponsor H-1B visas for Civil Project Engineers?
Yes, Olsson sponsors H-1B visas for Civil Project Engineers. The company works with candidates on a range of visa types depending on your current status and the role's requirements. Sponsorship is handled through Olsson's HR and legal team, so confirming your visa situation early in the hiring process helps both sides plan the petition timeline accurately.
How do I apply for Civil Project Engineer jobs at Olsson?
Applications go through Olsson's careers portal, where you can filter by discipline and location. Before applying, review the job description carefully for PE licensure requirements and project specialization, since Civil Project Engineer postings vary across transportation, site development, and water resources. Migrate Mate also surfaces Olsson's open roles filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility, which saves time if you're specifically looking for positions open to sponsored candidates.
Which visa types does Olsson commonly use for Civil Project Engineer hires?
Olsson supports H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and J-1 visas for engineering roles. F-1 candidates with STEM-qualifying civil engineering degrees are eligible for the 24-month OPT extension, which gives Olsson a longer runway before needing to file an H-1B. Canadian and Mexican engineers should ask Olsson's HR team about TN eligibility, which allows faster entry without the H-1B lottery.
What qualifications does Olsson expect for Civil Project Engineers?
Olsson typically looks for a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program, an EIT certification, and progress toward professional licensure. For mid-level roles, a PE license and experience managing project deliverables from design through construction are standard expectations. Familiarity with software used in site, transportation, or water infrastructure design strengthens your application for most regional office positions.
How do I plan my visa timeline when pursuing a Civil Project Engineer offer at Olsson?
If you're on OPT, confirm your expiration date and whether your degree qualifies for the STEM extension before accepting an offer. H-1B petitions must be filed with USCIS in April for an October 1 start, so if your OPT expires before then, you'll need the STEM extension as a bridge. Flag your visa status to Olsson's recruiter early so HR can coordinate the filing schedule with legal counsel before your authorization lapses.
