Who We Are
Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations™ Cloud, which is a platform that enables organizations that depend on physical operations to harness Internet of Things (IoT) data to develop actionable insights and improve their operations. At Samsara, we are helping improve the safety, efficiency and sustainability of the physical operations that power our global economy. Representing more than 40% of global GDP, these industries are the infrastructure of our planet, including agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing — and we are excited to help digitally transform their operations at scale. Working at Samsara means you’ll help define the future of physical operations and be on a team that’s shaping an exciting array of product solutions, including Video-Based Safety, Vehicle Telematics, Apps and Driver Workflows, and Equipment Monitoring. As part of a recently public company, you’ll have the autonomy and support to make an impact as we build for the long term.
About the role:
The Safety team is pioneering the application of AI to make physical operations safer at global scale. We build intelligent systems that combine computer vision, VLMs, sensor data, environmental context, and behavioral patterns to detect risk and prevent accidents before they happen for some of the largest, most complex physical operations companies in the world. We’re looking for an entrepreneurial, technically-minded Product Manager to take one of our largest and fastest-growing businesses - Video-based Safety - to the next level. This is a high-ownership role launching and scaling new safety products for our customers, leveraging data from our millions of deployed devices. In this role, you’ll define and build the core components of our perception and prediction stack, deepening our understanding of the road, environment, and surrounding vehicles and using that understanding to change driver behavior. You'll be empowered to experiment boldly, challenge conventional thinking, and demonstrate the transformative power of AI when applied to the most challenging and complex operational environments. We’re looking for someone with a high degree of customer-obsession and a passion for changing the physical world. The ideal candidate has spent time as a founder or early startup engineer / PM with deep experience applying AI/ML to solve customer problems, and has led at-scale products. You'll collaborate closely with our dedicated teams in Engineering and Design, as well as work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success to propel our video-based safety product to its next phase of growth. Our ambitions for this product are high, and we're excited to invite you to join us!
This is a remote position open to candidates residing in the US.
You should apply if:
- You want to impact the industries that run our world: Your efforts will result in real-world impact—helping to keep the lights on, get food into grocery stores, reduce emissions, and most importantly, ensure workers return home safely.
- You are the architect of your own career: If you put in the work, this role won’t be your last at Samsara. We set up our employees for success and have built a culture that encourages rapid career development, countless opportunities to experiment and master your craft in a hyper growth environment.
- You’re energized by our opportunity: The vision we have to digitize large sectors of the global economy requires your full focus and best efforts to bring forth creative, ambitious ideas for our customers.
- You want to be with the best: At Samsara, we win together, celebrate together and support each other. You will be surrounded by a high-calibre team that will encourage you to do your best.
In this role, you will:
- Define and lead the roadmap for core components of Samsara’s perception stack running on millions of vehicles worldwide.
- Develop AI/ML models that enable Samsara to have a comprehensive understanding of driver behavior and crash risk and interventions required to reduce that risk.
- Work with our talented engineering teams to conceptualize and launch new safety products to help drive a fast-growing, at-scale business with $1 Billion+ in ARR.
- Build relationships with customers at the forefront of physical operations to deeply understand their business, their needs, and inform our roadmap.
- Lead by example in using AI tools to accelerate product development, customer research, and decision-making.
- Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.
Minimum requirements for the role:
- 7+ years in a product management and/or product-oriented engineering role.
- Track record of delivering business results for both 0-to-1 and at-scale products.
- Demonstrated experience and passion working on products that leverage state of the art AI/ML/CV.

Frame Your BD Experience Around Hardware Sales
Samsara sells IoT hardware and fleet management software to enterprise customers. Highlight experience closing deals involving physical products, device deployments, or hardware-as-a-service contracts. Generic SaaS BD backgrounds are less compelling here.
Verify Your Employer's E-Verify Enrollment Early
Before accepting an offer, confirm Samsara's enrollment in E-Verify through the DOL's public database. This is required for F-1 OPT STEM extension authorization and avoids a last-minute employment authorization gap.
Align Your Offer Letter to H-1B Specialty Occupation Standards
USCIS scrutinizes BD roles because the degree requirement isn't always explicit in job postings. Negotiate an offer letter that ties the role to a specific field like business administration, engineering, or marketing before your employer files the I-129.
Target Samsara's Regional Sales Territories Strategically
Samsara hires BD Managers across distinct U.S. territories. Applying to roles aligned with underserved markets, particularly logistics-heavy regions in the Midwest or South, can move your application faster through internal headcount approvals tied to sponsor filings.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Open Roles by Visa Type
Samsara posts BD Manager roles across multiple portals, but not all openings explicitly flag sponsorship availability. Use Migrate Mate to filter Samsara's active openings by the visa type you hold so you only pursue roles where your status is a fit.
Plan Your TN Classification Before Negotiating Start Dates
Canadian and Mexican nationals can use TN status for BD Manager roles classified under management consultant or related categories. Because TN approval happens at the port of entry, you can negotiate a start date weeks earlier than an H-1B filing timeline would allow.

Find Business Development Manager at Samsara JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Samsara sponsor H-1B visas for Business Development Managers?
Yes, Samsara sponsors H-1B visas for Business Development Manager roles. Because BD positions can face USCIS scrutiny over specialty occupation eligibility, it helps to have your offer letter explicitly tie the role to a qualifying degree field such as business administration or marketing before the I-129 is filed. Engaging Samsara's HR team early about their internal filing timeline is also advisable.
How do I apply for Business Development Manager jobs at Samsara?
You can apply directly through Samsara's careers page or through Migrate Mate, which filters Samsara's open Business Development Manager roles by visa sponsorship type. When applying, tailor your resume to Samsara's fleet and IoT focus, and be explicit in your cover materials about your current visa status and authorization timeline so the recruiting team can route you correctly from the start.
Which visa types does Samsara commonly use for Business Development Manager hires?
Samsara sponsors a range of visa types for Business Development Manager roles, including H-1B, F-1 OPT and CPT, TN, J-1, and employment-based Green Cards through EB-2 and EB-3 pathways. F-1 OPT holders in qualifying STEM fields may be eligible for the 24-month STEM OPT extension if the role meets DOL training plan requirements, giving additional runway before an H-1B cap filing.
What qualifications does Samsara look for in Business Development Manager candidates?
Samsara typically looks for candidates with demonstrated experience in enterprise or mid-market sales, particularly in industries involving physical products, logistics, or field operations. Familiarity with hardware-as-a-service commercial models, CRM-driven pipeline management, and the ability to sell into operations or fleet management buyers are recurring themes across Samsara's BD Manager job descriptions.
How do I time my visa sponsorship process when pursuing a role at Samsara?
Timing depends on your current status. H-1B cap filings have a March registration window for an October 1 start date, so offers accepted after March may require a gap or a cap-exempt bridge. F-1 OPT holders on an active EAD can start sooner. TN applicants from Canada or Mexico can typically obtain approval at the port of entry, reducing the lead time to two to four weeks from offer acceptance.
