Align your credentials with U.S. healthcare licensing standards
Trinity Health operates across dozens of states, so COO candidates need operational credentials that translate clearly to U.S. acute care environments. If your experience is international, document how your leadership scope maps to Joint Commission-regulated health systems.
Target Trinity Health's regional market leadership roles
Trinity Health fills COO positions at both the system level and within individual ministries. Applying to regional or market-specific openings often moves faster than enterprise-wide searches, and sponsorship decisions are made closer to the hiring manager.
Clarify your visa category before the offer stage
For COO roles, TN and H-1B are the most common paths, but the qualifying specialty occupation determination matters. Confirm with Trinity Health's HR team early whether your role classification supports your intended category before the offer is formally extended.
Build your PERM timeline into your negotiation
If you're targeting a Green Card through EB-2 or EB-3, PERM labor certification can take 12 to 18 months or more. Raise the employer-sponsored permanent residency conversation during offer negotiation, not after you've signed, to align expectations on timeline and cost coverage.
Use Migrate Mate to filter COO openings that indicate sponsorship willingness
Not every Trinity Health COO posting explicitly advertises visa sponsorship. Search COO roles on Migrate Mate to surface positions where Trinity Health has sponsored similar titles before, so you focus your applications where approval is already established practice.
Prepare a specialty occupation brief for your I-129 filing
USCIS scrutinizes senior operations roles in healthcare for specialty occupation eligibility under H-1B. Work with Trinity Health's immigration counsel to build a role description that documents the specific degree requirement and complexity distinguishing the COO function from general management.

Does Trinity Health sponsor H-1B visas for COOs?
Yes, Trinity Health sponsors H-1B visas for COO roles, though the process requires establishing that the position qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards. Senior operational roles in healthcare can face additional scrutiny, so the job description and degree requirement documentation need to be precise. Trinity Health's legal team typically manages this in coordination with the hiring candidate.
How do I apply for COO jobs at Trinity Health?
Applications go through Trinity Health's careers portal, where COO openings are listed by ministry or market. You can also browse COO positions at Trinity Health that have a verified sponsorship track record on Migrate Mate, which helps you prioritize roles where international candidates have been hired before. Tailor your application to the specific ministry's service lines and operational scale.
Which visa types does Trinity Health commonly use for COO hires?
Trinity Health has sponsored H-1B, TN, J-1, and F-1 OPT for roles across its system, including senior operations functions. For COO-level positions, H-1B is the most typical nonimmigrant path for long-term employment. Candidates already on F-1 OPT can use that authorization during the transition period. EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship is available for qualified candidates pursuing permanent residency.
What qualifications does Trinity Health expect for a COO role?
Trinity Health COO roles typically require a graduate degree in healthcare administration, business, or a clinical field, along with substantial senior leadership experience in an acute care or integrated health system. Familiarity with value-based care models, regulatory compliance across multiple states, and physician engagement is consistently prioritized. International candidates should be prepared to demonstrate how their experience maps to U.S. hospital operations specifically.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Trinity Health COO position?
For H-1B, standard USCIS processing runs three to six months from filing, with premium processing available to reduce that to roughly 15 business days. If your start date is tied to the H-1B cap, timing depends on the April lottery. TN authorization for eligible candidates can be obtained at the port of entry or through USCIS, often faster. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship adds at least 12 to 18 months on top of any nonimmigrant filing.
