Align your credentials to rental operations
Business Manager roles at United Rentals require demonstrated P&L ownership, fleet cost management, or branch-level operations experience. Frame your resume around revenue targets, equipment utilization, or team performance metrics that map directly to how rental branches are evaluated.
Target branch openings in shortage markets
United Rentals operates across hundreds of branch locations, and sponsorship decisions are often easier at branches with persistent hiring gaps. Focus your applications on markets where commercial or industrial construction activity is high and qualified local candidates are scarce.
Clarify your visa category before outreach
United Rentals has sponsored across multiple work visa categories, so knowing whether your situation fits H-1B, TN, or OPT before you speak with a recruiter shortens the conversation. Hiring managers in operations roles respond better when you can explain your authorization pathway clearly upfront.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open roles
Business Manager positions at United Rentals open frequently as branches grow or turn over leadership. Use Migrate Mate to filter and track those openings specifically, so you're applying when a role is actively posted rather than cold-contacting locations that aren't hiring.
Understand the PERM timeline for permanent roles
If you're targeting an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card pathway through United Rentals, DOL's PERM labor certification process typically adds six to eighteen months before an I-140 petition can be filed. Build that lead time into your career planning, especially if your OPT or H-1B validity is limited.
Ask about I-9 and E-Verify procedures early
United Rentals participates in E-Verify, so your work authorization documents need to be in order before your first day. If you're transitioning visa status at the time of hire, confirm with HR which employment start date aligns with your authorized period to avoid I-9 complications.

Find Business Manager at United Rentals JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does United Rentals sponsor H-1B visas for Business Managers?
Yes, United Rentals has a history of sponsoring H-1B visas for Business Manager roles. These positions typically qualify as specialty occupations given the degree requirements in business, finance, or a related field. Sponsorship decisions are made at the corporate level, so your best approach is to move through the standard hiring process and raise the sponsorship conversation once you have a strong offer in hand.
How do I apply for Business Manager jobs at United Rentals?
Applications go through United Rentals' careers portal. Business Manager openings are listed by branch location, so search by region if you have flexibility. You can also use Migrate Mate to filter United Rentals' open Business Manager roles specifically by visa sponsorship eligibility, which saves time if you're only targeting positions where sponsorship is confirmed. Tailor your resume to branch operations, P&L ownership, and team leadership to move through screening.
Which visa types does United Rentals commonly use for Business Manager roles?
United Rentals has sponsored H-1B visas for Business Managers and has also supported F-1 OPT and CPT candidates in operations-adjacent roles that can lead to full-time Business Manager positions. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying business or management classifications. For longer-term immigration, EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways through PERM labor certification are also options the company has pursued for business-facing roles.
What qualifications does United Rentals expect for Business Manager candidates?
United Rentals typically expects a bachelor's degree in business, finance, marketing, or a closely related field, along with direct experience managing a team or a revenue-generating unit. Rental industry background is not required, but experience in operations-heavy environments like construction, logistics, or industrial services translates well. Demonstrated ability to manage branch-level costs, drive sales growth, and lead frontline employees carries more weight than credentials alone.
How do I plan my timeline around visa sponsorship at United Rentals?
The timeline depends on your current visa status. If you're on F-1 OPT, you have a defined window to secure employment and initiate H-1B sponsorship before USCIS's annual cap filing period in March. H-1B cap-subject petitions have an October 1 start date, so working backward from that date shapes when you need an offer. For Green Card sponsorship, the PERM process through DOL adds significant lead time, so raising that conversation with HR early in the employment relationship is the practical move.
