Get Your Credentials Evaluated Before Applying
If you trained outside the U.S., submit your transcripts to a FCCPT-approved credential evaluation service before reaching out to WellSpan. Many healthcare employers in Pennsylvania require FCCPT equivalency confirmation before advancing international PT candidates to interviews.
Target WellSpan's Outpatient Rehab Openings First
WellSpan posts Physical Therapist roles across multiple outpatient rehab sites in York, Lancaster, and surrounding counties. These positions tend to have more consistent hire cycles than acute care, giving you a clearer hiring timeline to plan your sponsorship window around.
Confirm NPTE Licensure in Pennsylvania Early
Pennsylvania requires PT licensure before you can start work, and your H-1B or TN petition must reflect your licensed status. Apply to the Pennsylvania State Board of Physical Therapy as soon as you pass the NPTE so your licensure date does not delay your employer's USCIS filing.
Understand How TN Status Works for PT Roles
Canadian and Mexican Physical Therapists may qualify for TN status, which does not require an H-1B lottery selection and can be arranged faster. Confirm with WellSpan's HR team whether they process TN petitions directly, since approval timelines differ significantly from H-1B filings.
Ask About Permanent Residency Support During Negotiation
WellSpan has sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for healthcare roles. During the offer stage, ask directly whether PERM labor certification support is included in your package, since DOL processing timelines for PERM can run 12 to 18 months before your I-140 petition is even filed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does WellSpan Health sponsor H-1B visas for Physical Therapists?
Yes, WellSpan Health sponsors H-1B visas for Physical Therapist roles. As a regional health system operating across Pennsylvania, WellSpan qualifies as a healthcare employer with established USCIS filing processes. Physical Therapists typically qualify under the specialty occupation standard given the required degree in physical therapy. You should confirm sponsorship availability for a specific posting before applying, as not every location sponsors equally.
Which visa types does WellSpan Health commonly sponsor for Physical Therapist roles?
WellSpan Health sponsors H-1B, TN visa, J-1 visa, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card pathways for Physical Therapists. H-1B is the most common nonimmigrant route for degree-holding PTs. TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals without a lottery. J-1 visa is used for clinical training and exchange roles. Green Card sponsorship through PERM labor certification is available for longer-term hires.
What qualifications does WellSpan Health expect for Physical Therapist candidates requiring sponsorship?
WellSpan expects a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree, active Pennsylvania PT licensure, and NPTE passage. For internationally trained candidates, FCCPT credential evaluation confirming U.S. equivalency is standard. Most postings prefer or require one to two years of clinical experience, though new graduates on F-1 OPT are considered for some outpatient roles. BLS certification is typically required before your start date.
How do I apply for Physical Therapist jobs at WellSpan Health?
Browse Physical Therapist openings at WellSpan Health on Migrate Mate, where listings are filtered to show roles open to visa sponsorship. Apply directly through WellSpan's careers portal with your resume, PT license number, and credential evaluation if applicable. After submitting, WellSpan's talent acquisition team typically reviews applications within two to three weeks before reaching out for initial screening calls.
How do I estimate the timeline from job offer to starting work at WellSpan Health on an H-1B?
From signed offer to work start on an H-1B, expect roughly three to five months under standard processing, or four to six weeks with USCIS premium processing at additional cost. WellSpan must file the Labor Condition Application with the DOL first, which typically takes seven business days, before submitting the I-129 petition. Build in time for Pennsylvania PT licensure if it is still pending when you receive your offer.
