Compliance Jobs in District of Columbia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a compliance in District of Columbia?
Most compliance roles in District of Columbia require at least a bachelor's degree in business, law, finance, or public policy, followed by experience in a regulated industry. The District does not issue a state compliance license, but employers strongly prefer credentials such as the Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) from the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics or the Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) for financial roles. Given D.C.'s federal contracting environment, familiarity with government procurement rules also distinguishes candidates.
How much do compliances make in District of Columbia?
Compliances in District of Columbia earn a median of about $111,030 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $69,140 for the lowest 10% to over $156,750 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire compliances in District of Columbia?
Companies currently hiring compliances in District of Columbia include TikTok, FTI Consulting, and Intuit, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The District's density of federal agencies, defense contractors, and financial institutions means compliance roles appear across a wider range of employer types than in most other markets.
Which District of Columbia cities have the most compliance jobs?
The cities with the most compliance openings in District of Columbia are Washington and Foggy Bottom. Washington dominates because of the concentration of federal agencies, trade associations, and regulated industries headquartered there, while Bethesda draws healthcare and biotech compliance openings and Arlington hosts major defense contractors and financial services firms that run sizable compliance functions.
Are there remote compliance jobs in District of Columbia?
Yes, and more than many fields. About 67% of compliance openings tied to District of Columbia are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the desk-based and analytical nature of most compliance work. Policy review, regulatory research, and compliance monitoring roles are the most consistently offered in remote or hybrid formats, while roles requiring on-site audits or government facility access tend to remain in person.
How can I get hired as a compliance in District of Columbia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a compliance analyst or compliance coordinator role at a federal contractor or trade association, where broad regulatory exposure is valued over deep specialization. Large D.C. employers such as Booz Allen Hamilton and Deloitte run analyst development programs that accept candidates from adjacent backgrounds like paralegal work, internal audit, or policy research. Earning an entry-level credential such as the Compliance Certification Board's Entry-Level Compliance Certificate while applying strengthens a candidate's profile considerably.
