Engineering Program Manager Jobs in Nebraska: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a engineering program manager in Nebraska?
Most Nebraska employers expect a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline as the foundation, with mechanical, electrical, systems, and industrial engineering being the most common pathways. Nebraska does not require a state-issued license specifically for the program manager role, though a Professional Engineer license issued through the Nebraska Engineers and Architects Regulation Board strengthens candidacy at engineering-heavy employers. A PMP credential from the Project Management Institute is widely requested across Nebraska defense, utility, and manufacturing hiring.
How much do engineering program managers make in Nebraska?
Engineering program managers in Nebraska earn a median of about $141,020 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $103,070 for the lowest 10% to over $222,240 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire engineering program managers in Nebraska?
Nebraska engineering program manager roles are posted by CVS Health, Terracon Consultants, and Mutual of Omaha and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Nebraska's defense corridor around Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue and the large utility and rail infrastructure employers anchored in Omaha and Lincoln generate consistent demand for this role year-round.
Which Nebraska cities have the most engineering program manager jobs?
Omaha, Lincoln, and Nebraska have the most engineering program manager openings in Nebraska right now. Omaha leads because it anchors the state's defense contracting, rail, utilities, and financial technology sectors, while Lincoln draws on its university research institutions and state agency infrastructure, and Bellevue's concentration near Offutt Air Force Base brings steady demand from aerospace and defense program management contractors.
Are there remote engineering program manager jobs in Nebraska?
Yes, and they're more common than in hands-on engineering roles. About 35% of engineering program manager openings tied to Nebraska are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the coordination and planning nature of the work. The most remote-eligible portions of the role tend to be roadmap planning, stakeholder reporting, and documentation-heavy phases, while hardware-dependent or defense-classified programs typically require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a engineering program manager in Nebraska with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a project coordinator, systems analyst, or junior engineer role within a Nebraska employer, then stepping into program management as scope grows. Large Nebraska employers in defense contracting and utilities regularly bring in associate program managers through rotational or development programs aimed at early-career engineers. Building a PMP certification, even as a candidate, and targeting Omaha-area defense contractors or Lincoln's technology and infrastructure employers as your first stop improves placement odds significantly.
Where can I find and apply to engineering program manager jobs in Nebraska?
You can find and apply to engineering program manager jobs in Nebraska on Migrate Mate, which lists current Nebraska openings. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the employers posting them.
