Field Representative Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a field representative in New York?
Most field representative roles in New York require a bachelor's degree and a valid New York State driver's license as baseline qualifications. For insurance field representatives, New York State requires a property and casualty or life and health license issued by the New York State Department of Financial Services, which involves completing a pre-licensing course and passing a state exam. Government and nonprofit field roles typically prioritize relevant program experience over licensure.
Which companies hire field representatives in New York?
Companies currently hiring field representatives in New York include Dormitory Authority State of New York, Grupo Bimbo, and HDR, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. New York's concentration of major insurance carriers, state agencies, and healthcare networks makes it one of the more active markets for field representative hiring along the East Coast.
Which New York cities have the most field representative jobs?
New York, Albany, and Brooklyn have the most field representative openings in New York. New York City dominates because of the density of insurance, healthcare, and financial services headquarters, while Albany draws government and public-sector field roles and Buffalo supports regional territory positions tied to manufacturing and community health organizations.
Are there remote field representative jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. Field representative work is by nature territory-based and requires in-person client visits, site inspections, or community engagement. About 54% of field representative openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those tend to be in roles focused on administrative reporting, data collection, or phone-based outreach rather than direct fieldwork.
How can I get hired as a field representative in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for associate or territory trainee roles at New York-based insurance carriers and state agencies, which regularly hire candidates without prior field experience. The New York State Department of Labor and large carriers like MetLife run structured onboarding programs for new hires. Lateral moves from customer service, retail banking, or community health work are common, and holding a New York property and casualty license before applying gives candidates a clear edge.
Where can I find and apply to field representative jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to field representative jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level, preferred territory, and specialty, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
