Finance Manager Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance manager in Massachusetts?
Most finance managers in Massachusetts start with a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or economics, then build several years of experience in financial analysis or accounting roles before moving into management. While no state-issued license is required to hold the title, Massachusetts employers in financial services and insurance strongly prefer candidates with a CPA issued through the Massachusetts Board of Public Accountancy or a CFA credential, both of which meaningfully accelerate hiring timelines.
Which companies hire finance managers in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring finance managers in Massachusetts right now include Raytheon, Amazon, and PwC, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Massachusetts's concentration of financial services firms, major hospital networks, and biotech companies means hiring is spread across several distinct industries rather than dominated by a single sector.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most finance manager jobs?
The cities with the most finance manager openings in Massachusetts are Boston, Tewksbury, and Cambridge. Boston dominates due to its density of financial services headquarters, major hospital systems, and corporate regional offices, while Worcester and Cambridge generate consistent demand through large healthcare institutions, insurers, and life sciences companies that require dedicated finance leadership.
Are there remote finance manager jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, and more than many management roles, because finance manager work centers on analysis, reporting, and stakeholder presentations that translate well to remote settings. About 57% of finance manager openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting broad employer flexibility in this field. FP&A and corporate finance functions tend to have the highest remote availability, while roles tied to healthcare operations or manufacturing finance are more likely to require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a finance manager in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a financial analyst or senior analyst role first, then pursuing internal promotion. Large Massachusetts employers like Fidelity Investments, Partners HealthCare, and Liberty Mutual run structured rotational finance programs and new-graduate analyst pipelines that feed directly into manager-track positions. Earning a CPA through the Massachusetts Board of Public Accountancy or completing a CFA level early signals readiness and distinguishes candidates who lack direct management experience from others at the same stage.
Where can I find and apply to finance manager jobs in Massachusetts?
You can find and apply to finance manager jobs in Massachusetts on Migrate Mate, which lists current Massachusetts openings updated regularly. Find roles that fit your experience and location, then apply directly to the employers posting them.
