Finance Manager Jobs in Wisconsin: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance manager in Wisconsin?
Most finance manager roles in Wisconsin require a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business administration as the foundation. While Wisconsin does not issue a state license specific to finance managers, employers in regulated sectors such as insurance and banking expect a CPA or CFA credential. Earning one of those designations through the Wisconsin Institute of CPAs pathway, combined with several years of progressive experience in financial analysis or accounting, is the most direct route to a finance manager role in the state.
Which companies hire finance managers in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin finance manager roles are posted by SC Johnson, Smurfit Westrock, and Amato Automotive and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Wisconsin's concentration of insurance carriers, large manufacturers, and regional healthcare systems means finance manager demand is spread across multiple stable industry sectors rather than concentrated in a single employer type.
Which Wisconsin cities have the most finance manager jobs?
Milwaukee, Madison, and Wisconsin account for the largest share of finance manager openings in Wisconsin. Milwaukee leads because it is home to major insurance and financial services headquarters, while Madison draws demand from state government, the University of Wisconsin system, and a growing technology sector, and Green Bay reflects the region's strong manufacturing and food-industry employer base.
Are there remote finance manager jobs in Wisconsin?
Yes, and more than many other professional roles, since finance management centers on analysis, reporting, and team oversight that translate well to remote work. About 63% of finance manager openings tied to Wisconsin are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, giving candidates outside Milwaukee or Madison real options. Financial planning and analysis positions and corporate reporting roles tend to offer the most remote flexibility, while roles requiring on-site treasury operations or plant-level cost management are more likely to be in-person.
How can I get hired as a finance manager in Wisconsin with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a finance manager role from a senior financial analyst or accounting position within the same Wisconsin organization. Large employers such as Northwestern Mutual, Advocate Aurora Health, and Oshkosh Corporation run structured rotational and development programs that build analysts toward management. Pursuing the CPA through the Wisconsin Institute of CPAs while in an analyst role signals readiness for management responsibility and is the credential Wisconsin employers most consistently reward with promotion into finance manager positions.
Where can I find and apply to finance manager jobs in Wisconsin?
You can find and apply to finance manager jobs in Wisconsin on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the state. Search the listings, find the roles that match your experience and target industry, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
