We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant who can independently review individual and business tax returns, identify accounting discrepancies, and ensure returns are accurate and complete before partner approval.
This is a hands-on technical position for someone who enjoys solving complex tax and accounting issues, takes ownership of their work, and can provide clear guidance to other team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Review federal and state individual (1040), S corporation (1120-S), partnership (1065), and corporate (1120) tax returns for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Review financial statements, balance sheets, general ledgers, reconciliations, and prior-year returns to identify errors and inconsistencies.
- Identify bookkeeping discrepancies, recommend adjusting journal entries, and ensure financial records reconcile with tax returns.
- Provide clear review notes and verify that corrections have been completed.
- Research federal and state tax issues and recommend practical solutions.
- Communicate directly with clients to obtain missing information and resolve tax-related questions.
- Prepare complex tax returns and assist with tax projections and planning when needed.
- Work closely with firm partners to ensure quality and timely completion of engagements.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of recent U.S. public accounting tax experience.
- At least 2 years of hands-on tax return review experience.
- Strong experience reviewing individual and business tax returns, particularly Forms 1040, 1120-S, and 1065.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, general ledger reconciliations, financial statements, and adjusting journal entries.
- Ability to independently identify errors, investigate discrepancies, and resolve technical issues.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and professional tax preparation software.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and written and verbal communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation.
- Experience with Taxs
- Experience reviewing multi-state returns and complex business tax matters.
- Experience mentoring junior tax preparers.
