FP&A Manager Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a fp&a manager in California?
The typical path into an fp&a manager role in California starts with a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, followed by several years in financial analysis or accounting. California does not require a state-issued license specifically for fp&a work, but earning a CPA through the California Board of Accountancy or a CFA designation significantly strengthens candidacy. Most hiring managers expect progression from analyst to senior analyst before promoting into the manager tier.
How much do FP&A managers make in California?
FP&A managers in California earn a median of about $101,460 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $61,360 for the lowest 10% to over $174,970 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire fp&a managers in California?
Employers hiring fp&a managers in California right now include Gilead Sciences, Apple, and Cydcor, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. California's concentration of technology headquarters, entertainment studios, and large healthcare systems means demand cuts across multiple industries rather than clustering in a single sector.
Which California cities have the most fp&a manager jobs?
San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Jose have the most fp&a manager openings in California. The Bay Area's density of public technology companies and late-stage startups drives the highest volume, while Los Angeles draws significant demand from entertainment, media, and consumer brands, and San Diego's biotech and defense sector anchors a smaller but consistent market.
Are there remote fp&a manager jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 68% of fp&a manager openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how well the analytical and presentation work of the role translates to distributed settings. Strategic planning cycles and recurring forecast reviews are the parts of the job most commonly done fully remote, while board prep and cross-functional alignment meetings more often require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a fp&a manager in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a senior financial analyst role first, which many California technology and healthcare employers treat as a direct pipeline into the manager tier. Large California employers including Kaiser Permanente and major Bay Area technology companies run rotational finance programs designed for recent graduates. Coming from an adjacent role in accounting, business operations, or revenue operations with strong Excel and modeling skills often opens the same door, particularly if you hold a CPA from the California Board of Accountancy.
Where can I find and apply to fp&a manager jobs in California?
You can find and apply to fp&a manager jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers actively hiring in the state. Search the available roles, find ones that match your background and location preferences, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
