Hotel Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a hotel manager in Texas?
Texas does not require a state-issued license to work as a hotel manager, so the path runs through education and experience. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in hospitality management or business, typically from programs at the University of Houston Conrad N. Hilton College, Texas Tech, or similar institutions. Candidates then build experience in front desk, rooms, or food and beverage roles before moving into management. A Certified Hotel Administrator credential from the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute strengthens any application.
How much do hotel managers make in Texas?
Hotel managers in Texas earn a median of about $62,000 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $31,670 for the lowest 10% to over $126,610 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire hotel managers in Texas?
Employers hiring hotel managers in Texas right now include Omni Hotels, Crestline Hotels & Resorts, and TPG Hotels & Resorts, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's size and its heavy convention and tourism infrastructure mean large full-service and resort brands maintain ongoing management pipelines across multiple properties statewide.
Which Texas cities have the most hotel manager jobs?
Frisco, Dallas, and Austin consistently post the most hotel manager openings in Texas. Houston and Dallas drive volume through corporate travel, large convention centers, and major airport corridors, while San Antonio's River Walk, military installations, and year-round tourism sustain steady demand at full-service and resort properties throughout the city.
Are there remote hotel manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Hotel management is fundamentally an on-property, operations-driven role, so most positions require a daily physical presence. About 3% of hotel manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those postings typically involve regional or above-property oversight roles where a manager supervises multiple locations rather than running a single hotel.
How can I get hired as a hotel manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting in a front desk agent, guest services, or rooms division coordinator role at a large Texas property and earning a promotion from within. Marriott and Hilton both run structured management-in-training programs at their Texas hotels that are specifically designed to move motivated hourly staff into supervisory and assistant-manager roles. Completing a hospitality degree from the University of Houston Conrad N. Hilton College or a similar Texas program, or earning a Certified Hospitality Supervisor designation, gives candidates a clear edge when competing for that first management step.
Where can I find and apply to hotel manager jobs in Texas?
