Human Resources Assistant Jobs in South Carolina: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a human resources assistant in South Carolina?
South Carolina does not require a state-issued license to work as a human resources assistant. Most employers in the state look for an associate or bachelor's degree in human resources or business, combined with demonstrated administrative experience. Earning an entry-level credential such as the aPHR through HRCI or the SHRM-CP through the Society for Human Resource Management strengthens a candidate's profile considerably and is widely recognized by South Carolina employers across manufacturing, healthcare, and state government.
Which companies hire human resources assistants in South Carolina?
South Carolina human resources assistant roles are posted by State of South Carolina, Walmart, and Ensign Services and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. South Carolina's mix of state agencies, large health systems, and multinational manufacturers means HR assistant openings appear across a wide range of industries and organization sizes.
Which South Carolina cities have the most human resources assistant jobs?
Greenville, Columbia, and Lexington County have the most human resources assistant openings in South Carolina. Columbia leads as the state capital and home to a large concentration of state government agencies and the University of South Carolina, while Greenville's growth as an advanced manufacturing hub anchored by BMW and Michelin drives consistent HR hiring, and Charleston's expanding healthcare and logistics sectors sustain steady demand.
Are there remote human resources assistant jobs in South Carolina?
Yes, though they are less common than in fully desk-based fields because many HR assistant duties involve in-person onboarding, document handling, and employee interaction. About 17% of human resources assistant openings tied to South Carolina are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting selective flexibility from larger employers. Tasks like HRIS data entry, benefits coordination, and recruitment scheduling are the functions most likely to be approved for remote or hybrid arrangements.
How can I get hired as a human resources assistant in South Carolina with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for HR coordinator or administrative assistant roles within large South Carolina employers such as Prisma Health, MUSC, or state agencies headquartered in Columbia, which regularly bring on candidates without direct HR experience who have transferable office or customer-service backgrounds. Completing the aPHR certification before applying signals commitment and gives a resume an edge. Community colleges across the state, including Trident Technical College and Greenville Technical College, offer human resources programs that lead directly into entry-level positions with local employers.
Where can I find and apply to human resources assistant jobs in South Carolina?
