Insurance Account Manager Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a insurance account manager in Massachusetts?
The concrete first step is obtaining a Massachusetts insurance producer license through the Division of Insurance, which requires completing a state-approved pre-licensing education course and passing the relevant lines exam, such as Property and Casualty or Life and Accident and Health. Most employers expect at least an associate's degree, though a bachelor's in business or finance strengthens your candidacy. Entry candidates often start in customer service or claims support roles before moving into account management.
How much do insurance account managers make in Massachusetts?
Insurance account managers in Massachusetts earn a median of about $79,300 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $57,620 for the lowest 10% to over $163,380 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire insurance account managers in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring insurance account managers in Massachusetts right now include Salem Five Insurance Svcs, PLNAR, and VAST Data, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Massachusetts's high concentration of regional carriers, national brokerages, and self-insured corporations in the healthcare and biotech sectors means openings appear across a wide range of employer types and sizes.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most insurance account manager jobs?
Boston, Massachusetts, and Stow have the most insurance account manager openings in Massachusetts. Boston drives the largest share of listings given its density of corporate headquarters, financial institutions, and major brokerage offices, while Worcester and Springfield generate steady demand from regional carriers, mid-market commercial clients, and community-based agencies that serve Central and Western Massachusetts.
Are there remote insurance account manager jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, and more than many client-facing roles, since much of the day-to-day work, renewals, endorsements, and coverage reviews, is document and phone based. About 50% of insurance account manager openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the desk-driven nature of the role. Fully remote positions are most common in personal lines and employee benefits, where client interaction happens primarily by phone and email.
How can I get hired as a insurance account manager in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as an insurance customer service representative or account assistant at a Massachusetts agency or regional carrier, roles that share the same systems and workflows as account management. Earning your Massachusetts producer license before applying signals readiness and removes a common hiring barrier. Large Massachusetts employers like Liberty Mutual and Hanover Insurance Group run structured development programs that move new associates into account management over time, and independent agencies across Greater Boston frequently train unlicensed candidates on the job.
Where can I find and apply to insurance account manager jobs in Massachusetts?
You can find and apply to insurance account manager jobs in Massachusetts on Migrate Mate, which lists current Massachusetts openings from carriers, brokerages, and corporate insurance departments across the state. Find a role that fits and apply directly.
