Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Patient Accounting and Insurance Representative to join our dynamic RCM team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for accurately posting payments received from insurance companies, patients, and other payers into our Practice Management Billing systems (EPIC, ECW, Athena and NextGen). Your expertise will ensure that all transactions are correctly recorded, supporting the financial integrity of our organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong data entry skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and experience working with various financial software systems. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the efficiency of our billing operations while working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Duties
- Review and verify incoming payments from insurance carriers, patients, and third-party payers to ensure accuracy before posting.
- Enter payment data into multiple RCM billing software systems such as EPIC, ECW, Athena and NextGen platforms.
- Reconcile accounts receivable records by matching payments with outstanding invoices using data analysis and account reconciliation techniques.
- Manage collections accounts by following up on unpaid or partially paid claims to facilitate timely resolution.
- Collaborate with billing and collections teams to resolve discrepancies and improve cash flow processes through effective communication.
- Maintain detailed records of all transactions, perform account analysis, and generate reports using Microsoft Office tools like Excel spreadsheets with formulas for data accuracy and analysis.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in RCM roles with a focus on accounts receivable management or billing software.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and journal entries.
- Proven ability to work with Payor sites and EOBs to reconcile accounts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel formulas and spreadsheet management for data analysis.
- Familiarity with accounting software such as Sage, PeopleSoft, QuickBooks, Quicken or similar systems is highly desirable.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong data entry skills and ability to perform account reconciliation accurately.
- Effective communication skills for client interaction and internal collaboration via phone etiquette and professional customer service approach.
- Ability to analyze complex financial data quickly and efficiently while maintaining high levels of accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
