Insurance Jobs in Colorado: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become an insurance professional in Colorado?
Colorado licenses insurance producers and adjusters through the Colorado Division of Insurance under the Department of Regulatory Agencies. Producers must complete pre-licensing education, pass the state exam for their chosen line of authority, and submit a license application. Adjusters follow a similar exam and application process. Most roles also require at least an associate or bachelor's degree, and designations like CPCU or CIC strengthen candidacy for underwriting and commercial positions.
Which companies hire insurance professionals in Colorado?
Employers hiring insurances in Colorado right now include Farmers Insurance, Canyon Creek Financial, and Comparion Insurance Agency, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Colorado's strong base of regional carriers, national broker networks, and self-insured corporations means consistent openings across claims, underwriting, and benefits administration throughout the year.
Which Colorado cities have the most insurance jobs?
Denver, Fort Collins, and Colorado Springs account for the greatest concentration of insurance openings in Colorado. Denver anchors the market as the state's financial and corporate hub, drawing national carriers and large brokerages, while Colorado Springs hosts significant military-affiliated insurance operations and USAA's regional presence, and suburban corridors like Greenwood Village and Englewood contribute additional corporate headquarters employment.
Are there remote insurance jobs in Colorado?
Yes, and more than many fields, because much of insurance work involves analysis, client communication, and documentation that translates well to remote settings. About 36% of insurance openings tied to Colorado are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting carrier and brokerage flexibility post-pandemic. Roles in claims review, commercial underwriting, and employee benefits consulting tend to offer the most consistent remote arrangements.
How can I get hired in insurance in Colorado with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing your Colorado producer or adjuster license first, which signals commitment and removes a barrier for employers. Large Colorado carriers and brokerages such as Farmers, Pinnacol Assurance, and Lockton hire into claims trainee, customer service representative, and insurance coordinator roles that require no prior insurance background. Adjacent experience in banking, customer service, or healthcare billing transfers well. Completing pre-licensing coursework through a Colorado-approved provider before applying gives candidates a concrete credential to reference on applications.
Where can I find and apply to insurance jobs in Colorado?
You can find and apply to insurance jobs in Colorado on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to Colorado employers. Search the available roles, identify the ones that match your license type, specialization, and experience level, and apply directly to the positions that fit.
