Insurance Sales Representative Jobs in Hawaii: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a insurance sales representative in Hawaii?
To become an insurance sales representative in Hawaii, you must obtain a producer license through the Hawaii Insurance Division, which oversees all licensing in the state. Candidates choose a line of authority, such as Life and Health or Property and Casualty, pass the corresponding state licensing exam administered by a Hawaii-approved testing vendor, complete a background check, and submit an application to the Division. Most positions require at least a high school diploma, and many employers prefer some college coursework in business or finance.
Which companies hire insurance sales representatives in Hawaii?
Hawaii insurance sales representative roles are posted by State Farm, Allstate Insurance Yukimura & Associates, and The Ellgren Agency and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hawaii's market also includes locally rooted agencies and regional carriers that serve the state's unique mix of residential, tourism, and small-business clients.
Which Hawaii cities have the most insurance sales representative jobs?
Lihue, Honolulu, and Kailua have the most insurance sales representative openings in Hawaii. Honolulu drives the bulk of demand as the state's commercial and population center, while Hilo and Kailua-Kona reflect growing activity on the Big Island tied to real estate development, small business expansion, and the needs of an aging local population.
Are there remote insurance sales representative jobs in Hawaii?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely desk-based fields, since insurance sales often involves in-person client meetings and community relationship-building. About 100% of insurance sales representative openings tied to Hawaii are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting a mix of carrier and agency policies. Tasks such as follow-up calls, policy reviews, and administrative work are the most likely to be performed remotely.
How can I get hired as a insurance sales representative in Hawaii with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing your Hawaii producer license first, which signals commitment and makes you immediately hireable by agencies that train new agents. Large Hawaii employers such as First Insurance Company of Hawaii and national carriers with island offices regularly bring on entry-level producers and client service representatives, using these roles as a training ground. Adjacent positions like customer service representative or insurance assistant at a local agency are strong lateral moves, and completing pre-licensing coursework from a state-approved provider gives candidates a clear edge before their first interview.
Where can I find and apply to insurance sales representative jobs in Hawaii?
You can find and apply to insurance sales representative jobs in Hawaii on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings to identify roles that match your license type, experience level, and preferred island or city, then apply directly to the ones that fit your background.
