- Demonstrated ability to build and act on commercial plans, negotiate complex agreements, and drive measurable improvement.
- Strong presentation, influencing, and communication skills —comfortable operating with senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven track record of proactive problem solving and delivering results in complex, fast-paced environments.

National Sales Manager Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a national sales manager in New York?
Most national sales managers in New York build up through individual contributor sales roles before stepping into management, typically after several years of quota-carrying experience in fields such as technology, financial services, or pharmaceuticals. New York employers strongly favor candidates with a bachelor's degree in business or a related field, and an MBA from a New York institution can accelerate advancement. No state-issued license is required for the role itself, though pharmaceutical sales managers may pursue CNPR certification to strengthen their candidacy.
How much do national sales managers make in New York?
National sales managers in New York earn a median of about $217,640 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $107,670 for the lowest 10% to over $378,910 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire national sales managers in New York?
Employers hiring national sales managers in New York right now include City National Bank, Belden, and C&S Wholesale Grocers, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters in sectors like media, finance, and life sciences means demand stays consistent across both enterprise and mid-market companies throughout the year.
Which New York cities have the most national sales manager jobs?
New York, East Syracuse, and Town of Southeast are the cities with the most national sales manager openings in New York. New York City dominates due to its density of corporate headquarters, financial institutions, and media companies, while Albany and Buffalo attract openings tied to healthcare systems, regional insurance carriers, and manufacturing firms with statewide commercial operations.
Are there remote national sales manager jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most fields, given that sales leadership is fundamentally relationship- and results-driven rather than tied to a physical worksite. About 25% of national sales manager openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how broadly companies have embraced flexible structures for senior commercial roles. Strategic planning, team coaching, and pipeline reviews are the functions most commonly performed remotely, while major account meetings and leadership offsites typically remain in person.
How can I get hired as a national sales manager in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a sales team lead or regional sales manager role first, building your management record before pursuing a national title. Large New York employers in pharmaceuticals, technology, and financial services regularly hire associate or emerging-leader sales managers from strong individual contributor backgrounds. Applying to sales development or account executive roles at companies like Pfizer, IBM, or major New York media firms and then pursuing internal promotion is the most common route, and completing a formal sales management certification strengthens your candidacy.
Where can I find and apply to national sales manager jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to national sales manager jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state updated in real time. Find the roles that fit your background and apply directly to the employers posting them.
