Technical Sales Consultant Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a technical sales consultant in New York?
Most technical sales consultant roles in New York require a bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as engineering, computer science, or life sciences, combined with direct sales or pre-sales experience in a related industry. New York does not issue a state license specific to this role, so employers focus on industry certifications, product knowledge credentials, and a demonstrated record of closing complex deals. Entry candidates often start in sales development or technical support roles within large New York employers before moving into a full consultant position.
How much do technical sales consultants make in New York?
Technical sales consultants in New York earn a median of about $137,480 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $78,690 for the lowest 10% to over $218,680 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire technical sales consultants in New York?
Employers hiring technical sales consultants in New York right now include Figma, Ingram Micro, and Adobe, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's density of enterprise technology headquarters, financial services firms, and healthcare systems means openings appear at every scale, from global vendors to regional specialists.
Which New York cities have the most technical sales consultant jobs?
New York, Buffalo, and Albany have the most technical sales consultant openings in New York. New York City dominates the distribution because it is home to major financial services, media, and enterprise technology buyers, while White Plains and Buffalo each support strong regional concentrations of manufacturing, healthcare, and mid-market technology companies that rely on local consultants for on-site client engagement.
Are there remote technical sales consultant jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than many sales roles, since a significant portion of the work involves virtual demos, digital proposals, and phone-based discovery calls that translate well to remote settings. About 46% of technical sales consultant openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, though enterprise and medical device roles typically still require regular in-person client visits. The most fully remote openings tend to concentrate in SaaS and cloud infrastructure segments where buyers expect digital-first engagement.
How can I get hired as a technical sales consultant in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a sales development representative or technical support role at a New York-based technology or life sciences company, which builds both product fluency and client-facing skills before a move into a full consultant seat. Large New York employers including IBM and Siemens run associate sales programs and rotational tracks that accept candidates with a relevant degree but limited field experience. Earning a vendor-specific certification in Salesforce, AWS, or a medical device product line strengthens an early-career application considerably.
Where can I find and apply to technical sales consultant jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to technical sales consultant jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state updated in real time. Search by city, specialty, or experience level to narrow the results to roles that match your background. Find a role that fits and apply directly through the listing.
