Sales Development Representative Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales development representative in New York?
Sales development representative is not a licensed or credentialed role in New York, so entry is based on education and demonstrated skills rather than state exams. Most New York employers expect a bachelor's degree, though many will consider candidates with associate degrees who bring relevant sales experience. Building proficiency with CRM software, completing a sales bootcamp recognized by New York-area employers, or earning a Salesforce certification can meaningfully strengthen a candidacy in this competitive market.
How much do sales development representatives make in New York?
Sales development representatives in New York earn a median of about $92,190 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $45,750 for the lowest 10% to over $174,820 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales development representatives in New York?
Employers hiring sales development representatives in New York right now include Northwestern Mutual, ADP, and Verizon, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's density of enterprise software, fintech, and media companies means SDR demand here tends to stay active even when national hiring slows.
Which New York cities have the most sales development representative jobs?
New York, Albany, and Buffalo have the most sales development representative openings in New York. New York City dominates because of its concentration of enterprise software vendors, financial institutions, and media companies with large inside-sales teams, while Buffalo and Albany contribute openings from regional headquarters, insurance carriers, and technology firms with upstate operations.
Are there remote sales development representative jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 28% of sales development representative openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how well the role translates to phone and video-based outreach. Fully remote postings are most common for roles focused on outbound calling and email prospecting, while positions that involve in-person client meetings or office collaboration tend to require at least a hybrid schedule.
How can I get hired as a sales development representative in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to SDR associate or business development representative programs at mid-size SaaS and fintech companies based in New York City, which frequently hire new graduates willing to start on outbound prospecting teams. Lateral moves from customer success, retail banking, or account management roles are common because they demonstrate communication skills and client interaction. A Salesforce certification or completion of a recognized sales training program gives candidates a concrete edge when competing against more experienced applicants.
Where can I find and apply to sales development representative jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to sales development representative jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current New York openings updated regularly. Find the roles that fit your experience and target industries, then apply directly to each one through the listing.
