Sales Development Representative Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales development representative in Illinois?
Sales development representative roles in Illinois require no state-issued license or certification. Most employers look for a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or communications, though some technology companies in Chicago hire candidates with an associate degree and strong communication skills. Building proficiency in CRM tools like Salesforce and completing a recognized sales training program or bootcamp strengthens your candidacy. Internships with Illinois-based tech or financial services firms are among the most direct paths into an SDR role.
How much do sales development representatives make in Illinois?
Sales development representatives in Illinois earn a median of about $66,900 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $38,530 for the lowest 10% to over $154,070 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales development representatives in Illinois?
Employers hiring sales development representatives in Illinois right now include Paylocity, LeadingIT, and TEKsystems, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Illinois's density of B2B software, fintech, and enterprise technology companies, particularly in and around Chicago, means SDR roles turn over frequently and new openings appear throughout the year.
Which Illinois cities have the most sales development representative jobs?
Chicago, Schaumburg, and Naperville have the most sales development representative openings in Illinois. Chicago dominates because it hosts a large concentration of SaaS, fintech, and enterprise technology headquarters, while Naperville and Schaumburg attract SDR hiring from the many corporate offices and regional headquarters that cluster along the Interstate 88 technology corridor west of the city.
Are there remote sales development representative jobs in Illinois?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 62% of sales development representative openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how naturally this desk-based, phone-and-email role adapts to distributed work. Outbound prospecting and pipeline qualification are the functions most commonly performed fully remote, while onboarding and team coaching sessions more often require in-office or hybrid attendance.
How can I get hired as a sales development representative in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to SDR associate or business development representative programs that Chicago-area technology companies run for recent graduates. Employers such as mid-size SaaS firms and fintech companies based in the West Loop and River North regularly post new-grad cohort roles that include structured ramp periods. Lateral moves from customer success, retail banking, or inside sales support roles at Illinois financial institutions are also a well-traveled route. Completing a Salesforce certification and assembling a short prospecting portfolio gives candidates with no formal SDR experience a concrete edge.
Where can I find and apply to sales development representative jobs in Illinois?
You can find and apply to sales development representative jobs in Illinois on Migrate Mate, which lists current Illinois openings from employers actively hiring. Find roles that fit your experience and location, then apply directly to the ones that match.
