Sales Development Representative Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales development representative in Texas?
No state license or certification is required to work as a sales development representative in Texas. Most employers look for a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or communications, though some hire candidates with relevant experience in lieu of a degree. Building proficiency in CRM tools like Salesforce and completing courses in consultative or SaaS sales strengthens a candidacy. Texas's large technology and financial services sectors make Austin and Dallas particularly active markets for first-time SDRs.
How much do sales development representatives make in Texas?
Sales development representatives in Texas earn a median of about $61,680 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $33,360 for the lowest 10% to over $127,930 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales development representatives in Texas?
Employers hiring sales development representatives in Texas right now include Northwestern Mutual, Sunbelt Rentals, and Applied Industrial Technologies, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of enterprise technology headquarters, SaaS scale-ups, and financial services firms creates a steady pipeline of SDR openings well beyond any single employer.
Which Texas cities have the most sales development representative jobs?
Austin, Dallas, and Houston account for the most sales development representative openings in Texas. Austin leads because of its dense SaaS and technology startup ecosystem, Dallas attracts volume from enterprise software and financial services firms headquartered in the Metroplex, and Houston's energy and healthcare technology sectors generate consistent demand for SDRs managing outbound pipelines in those verticals.
Are there remote sales development representative jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields, because SDR work is fundamentally phone and email based with no requirement to be on-site. About 24% of sales development representative openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how well the role adapts to distributed sales teams. Fully remote roles are most common in SaaS and enterprise software, where Texas-based employers routinely recruit SDRs regardless of physical location.
How can I get hired as a sales development representative in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to SDR associate or business development representative programs at large Texas technology employers such as Dell Technologies, Oracle, or Salesforce, all of which run structured onboarding tracks for candidates without prior sales experience. Lateral moves from customer success, retail, or account management roles are common door-openers. Earning a HubSpot Sales or Salesforce Trailhead certification before applying demonstrates initiative and CRM fluency that Texas hiring managers consistently reward in first-time candidates.
Where can I find and apply to sales development representative jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to sales development representative jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search by city or specialty to narrow results to the roles that fit your background, then apply directly to each listing without creating a profile or signing up.
