The Robert Joseph Group is seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant for a four-month project with our client, a nonprofit C-3 in Prince George’s County, Maryland. The location is easily commutable from Maryland and Washington, DC.
This is an opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to support the organization’s day-to-day accounting and financial reporting. The position is fully on-site , and hands-on experience with MIP Abila Fund Accounting is required .
Responsibilities
Prepare and post journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger records.
Reconcile bank and balance sheet accounts, investigate discrepancies, and resolve outstanding items.
Assist with month-end close and the preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules.
Review and analyze accounting activity for accuracy and proper classification.
Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other accounting functions as needed.
Assist with fund accounting, financial reporting, and documentation for audit or management review.
Work with the finance team on accounting projects and process improvements.
Qualifications
Hands-on experience with MIP Abila Fund Accounting is required.
At least five years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including senior-level general ledger and financial reporting responsibilities.
Nonprofit or fund accounting experience preferred.
Strong experience with journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and collaborate with the finance team.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred; comparable professional experience will be considered.
Availability to work on-site in Prince George’s County for the approximately four-month assignment beginning in early December 2026.
