Recruiter Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a recruiter in Massachusetts?
Becoming a recruiter in Massachusetts typically starts with a bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or a closely related field, though many employers also consider equivalent work experience. Massachusetts does not require a state-issued license to work as a recruiter. Most employers expect familiarity with applicant tracking systems, employment law basics, and sourcing methods. Earning a Professional in Human Resources credential through HRCI or a SHRM certification strengthens your candidacy significantly in the Massachusetts market.
How much do recruiters make in Massachusetts?
Recruiters in Massachusetts earn a median of about $85,630 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $57,500 for the lowest 10% to over $145,130 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire recruiters in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring recruiters in Massachusetts right now include Guardian Angel Senior Services, Positive Behavior Supports, and Anduril, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Massachusetts's deep life sciences sector and large financial services and healthcare institutions consistently generate some of the highest recruiter demand in the state year-round.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most recruiter jobs?
Boston, Worcester, and Newton have the most recruiter openings in Massachusetts. Boston and Cambridge lead because of the concentration of hospitals, universities, biotech firms, and financial institutions headquartered or with major operations there, while Waltham draws significant volume from the technology and life sciences companies that cluster along Route 128.
Are there remote recruiter jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, and more than most fields, since recruiting is fundamentally a desk-based and communication-driven role that translates well to remote work. About 58% of recruiter openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how widely employers have accepted distributed recruiting teams. Sourcing, phone screens, and coordination work are the functions most consistently offered remotely, while on-site presence is more common for roles embedded with clinical or manufacturing teams.
How can I get hired as a recruiter in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a recruiting coordinator or HR coordinator role, where you support scheduling, onboarding, and applicant tracking before moving into full-cycle recruiting. Large Massachusetts employers such as academic medical centers, regional hospital systems, and established biotech firms routinely hire coordinators with no prior recruiting experience. A SHRM student membership or an HR certificate from a Massachusetts community college strengthens your application, and temp-to-perm roles through staffing agencies are a proven way to build a record of placements quickly.
Where can I find and apply to recruiter jobs in Massachusetts?
You can find and apply to recruiter jobs in Massachusetts on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers actively hiring in the state. Find roles that fit your experience and specialization and apply directly through the listings.
