Registered Dietitian Jobs in Minnesota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a registered dietitian in Minnesota?
You must earn at least a bachelor's degree in dietetics or nutrition from an accredited program, complete an accredited supervised practice program, and pass the CDR Registration Examination for Dietitians. After passing, you apply for a Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist credential through the Minnesota Board of Dietetics and Nutrition, which is required to practice in the state. Minnesota requires license renewal and continuing education to maintain active status.
How much do registered dietitians make in Minnesota?
Registered dietitians in Minnesota earn a median of about $77,540 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $62,660 for the lowest 10% to over $94,580 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire registered dietitians in Minnesota?
Employers hiring registered dietitians in Minnesota right now include RD NUTRITION CONSULTANTS, Equip, and NutraCo, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Minnesota's concentration of large integrated health systems, academic medical centers, and long-term care networks means steady demand for dietitians across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings statewide.
Which Minnesota cities have the most registered dietitian jobs?
The cities with the most registered dietitian openings in Minnesota are Minnesota, Rochester, and Saint Paul. The Twin Cities dominate because of the sheer density of health systems, specialty clinics, and corporate food service headquartered there, while Rochester draws significant volume from Mayo Clinic's large clinical nutrition department, and Duluth reflects the healthcare infrastructure serving northeastern Minnesota and the Lake Superior region.
Are there remote registered dietitian jobs in Minnesota?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely desk-based fields, since much of the work involves direct patient assessment and hands-on care. About 71% of registered dietitian openings tied to Minnesota are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and the positions most likely to be remote are telehealth nutrition counseling, corporate wellness consulting, and health coaching roles that do not require bedside or facility-based patient contact.
How can I get hired as a registered dietitian in Minnesota with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to new-graduate dietitian or dietetic technician roles within large Minnesota health systems such as Allina Health, M Health Fairview, or HealthPartners, which regularly onboard new RDs into inpatient or food service positions. Completing your supervised practice hours at a Minnesota facility often leads directly to a job offer. Holding an active Minnesota Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist credential before applying gives you a clear advantage over candidates still awaiting licensure.
Where can I find and apply to registered dietitian jobs in Minnesota?
You can find and apply to registered dietitian jobs in Minnesota on Migrate Mate, which lists current Minnesota openings across health systems, clinics, long-term care facilities, and corporate employers. Search the listings, find the roles that match your experience and specialty area, and apply directly through each posting.
