Job Summary
The Business Banking Small Business Relationship Manager (RM) serves as the relationship manager and financial advisor to clients with revenue sized at the lower end of the market segment within Business Banking. Introduces a full range of core Business Banking products, differentiated capabilities, and comprehensive solutions to meet client needs and exceed customer service expectations. This role focuses on acquiring new relationships and managing and growing existing client relationships. Our bankers are expected to demonstrate strong risk management acumen, including credit, operational, and compliance risks, to act as the first line of defense in adhering to KeyBank's profitability standards and moderate risk profile.
Essential Functions
- Acts as the primary financial advisor and business partner to clients, serving as the main contact for most client-related matters
- Drives business growth by deeply understanding client’s cash flow needs, the industries they serve, analyzing business trends, and proactively identifying opportunities.
- Educates clients on KeyBank’s products and capabilities, providing tailored solutions to support their business needs.
- Collaborates with retail branches and networks actively to deepen client relationships and develop new prospects, including building a Center of Influence referral network
- Leads credit processes, manages portfolio risk, assembles cross-functional teams for client needs, and ensures
- Performs other duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities and/or activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice
- Complies with all KeyBank policies and procedures, including without limitation, acting professionally at all times, conducting business ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest, and acting in the best interests of Key’s clients and Key.
Education
- Associate's degree or equivalent experience (required)
Work Experience
- A minimum of 1 year (ideally 2+) of experience in a small business/commercial lending environment (required)
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in cross-selling products and an ability and track record to meet or exceed aggressive sales goals (required)

- Demonstrates expertise within defined industry or geography (vertical/sub vertical) and within product set

- Understanding of financial, operational, and strategic drivers of client organizations to provide relevant and impactful banking solutions.
- Uses structured sales methodologies, principles and practices without losing sight of the client and environment
- Understands Key’s risk culture and effectively manages risk/reward trade-offs

Physical Demands
- General Office - Prolonged sitting, ability to communicate face to face in person or on the phone with teammates and clients, frequent use of PC/laptop, occasional lifting/pushing/pulling of backpacks, computer bags up to 10 lbs.

- Occasional travel to include overnight stay.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $71,000.00 - $125,000.00 annually. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
