Retail Sales Representative Jobs in South Carolina: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a retail sales representative in South Carolina?
Most retail sales representative positions in South Carolina require a high school diploma or equivalent and no state-issued license for general retail. Candidates typically start by applying directly to retailers or dealerships and complete employer-led product and sales training on the job. For roles selling insurance products, a South Carolina Department of Insurance producer license is required before you begin selling.
Which companies hire retail sales representatives in South Carolina?

Which South Carolina cities have the most retail sales representative jobs?
Greenville, Columbia, and Chester have the most retail sales representative openings in South Carolina. Columbia leads as the state capital and largest metro with a broad consumer base, Greenville benefits from rapid population growth and a strong automotive and manufacturing supply chain driving specialty retail, and Charleston's tourism economy and expanding port region support both chain and independent retail hiring year-round.
How can I get hired as a retail sales representative in South Carolina with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a part-time or seasonal associate position at a large South Carolina retailer such as Lowe's, Publix, or a regional automotive group, where structured onboarding trains new hires on products and sales techniques. Completing a South Carolina Technical College System course in business or customer service strengthens your application, and prior work in hospitality, food service, or customer support counts as transferable experience with most hiring managers.
