Sales Representative Jobs in Tennessee: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales representative in Tennessee?
Most sales representative roles in Tennessee require no state-issued license, though pharmaceutical and medical device representatives should complete industry-recognized training such as the Certified National Pharmaceutical Representative program. Employers typically look for a bachelor's degree plus demonstrated sales aptitude. For insurance sales roles, Tennessee requires licensure through the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance before soliciting clients, with separate exams for life, health, or property lines.
Which companies hire sales representatives in Tennessee?
Employers hiring sales representatives in Tennessee right now include American Home Design, Cleft of the Rock, and Great Lakes Petroleum, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Tennessee's concentration of healthcare manufacturers, logistics companies, and regional distributors means that a wide range of industries, from medical devices in Nashville to freight solutions in Memphis, maintain active sales teams in the state.
Which Tennessee cities have the most sales representative jobs?
Nashville, Knoxville, and Chattanooga have the most sales representative openings in Tennessee right now. Nashville drives the largest share through its dense cluster of healthcare companies, corporate headquarters, and technology firms, while Memphis draws heavily on logistics, distribution, and consumer goods employers, and Knoxville's manufacturing base and university-anchored economy support a steady regional market of its own.
Are there remote sales representative jobs in Tennessee?
Yes, and they are more common than in many fields, since inside sales and software sales roles can be performed entirely over phone and video. About 51% of sales representative openings tied to Tennessee are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, though field-based territory roles covering Tennessee accounts still make up a significant share. Software, SaaS, and financial services sales positions are the most likely to offer full remote arrangements.
How can I get hired as a sales representative in Tennessee with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a sales development representative or account coordinator role, which large Tennessee employers such as healthcare distributors and regional insurance carriers regularly post as new-grad positions. Completing a Certified National Pharmaceutical Representative course gives candidates a concrete credential recognized by Nashville-area medical device and pharma companies. Lateral moves from customer service, retail management, or clinical support roles at Tennessee hospitals and health systems also provide a recognized bridge into medical or clinical sales without prior field experience.
Where can I find and apply to sales representative jobs in Tennessee?
You can find and apply to sales representative jobs in Tennessee on Migrate Mate, which lists current Tennessee openings across Nashville, Memphis, Knoxville, and the rest of the state. Find roles that fit your experience and target industry, then apply directly to the employer through the listing.
