Job Summary
We are seeking a Cloud Networking Engineer to design, deploy, and operate cloud networking infrastructure across one or more major cloud providers. The role covers VPC/VNet design, hybrid connectivity, transit topologies, edge networking, DNS, and the security controls that make cloud networking reliable and safe at scale. The ideal candidate combines deep traditional networking knowledge with cloud-native networking patterns, has built production cloud networks at meaningful scale, and brings strong automation discipline to networking work. In this role you will work closely with cross-functional partners — product, design, engineering, operations, and business stakeholders — to translate ambiguous requirements into well-engineered solutions, and will be expected to raise the bar through code review, design review, and mentorship of more junior engineers. The successful candidate brings strong engineering discipline, a clear communication style, and a track record of shipping meaningful work that holds up well in production.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and operate cloud networking architectures including VPC/VNet, subnets, routing, and security groups.
- Build transit hub topologies using AWS Transit Gateway, Azure Virtual WAN, or GCP Network Connectivity Center.
- Design and implement hybrid connectivity using Direct Connect, ExpressRoute, Cloud Interconnect, and VPN.
- Architect edge networking including CDN, global load balancing, and WAF integration.
- Implement DNS strategies including Route 53, Azure DNS, or Cloud DNS with hybrid resolution.
- Design private connectivity to managed services using PrivateLink, Private Endpoints, or Private Service Connect.
- Automate cloud networking with Terraform, providing infrastructure-as-code coverage across the network estate.
- Implement network security controls including firewalls, NACLs, security groups, and DDoS protection.
- Operate Kubernetes networking including CNI selection, ingress strategies, and service exposure patterns.
- Build observability for cloud networking including flow logs, traffic insights, and packet capture.
- Drive cost optimization including data transfer reduction and right-sizing of network resources.
- Partner with security teams to harden the network perimeter and enforce zero-trust principles.
- Troubleshoot complex cloud networking issues across cloud and hybrid environments.
- Stay current with cloud networking platform updates and emerging patterns.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Networking, or a related field.
- Five or more years of experience in networking, with significant time on cloud networking.
- Deep hands-on experience with networking on at least one major cloud provider.
- Strong understanding of routing, switching, BGP, and modern networking fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience with hybrid connectivity (Direct Connect, ExpressRoute, or equivalents).
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code for cloud networking, especially Terraform.
- Strong understanding of cloud security and network controls.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes networking and service mesh fundamentals.
- Strong troubleshooting and packet-level analysis skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Cloud networking specialty certifications (AWS Advanced Networking, Azure Network Engineer).
- Experience with multi-cloud networking and cloud-to-cloud connectivity.
- Familiarity with SD-WAN platforms and SASE architectures.
- Experience with eBPF-based networking tools.
- Exposure to regulated industries with strict network segmentation requirements.

Sales Solutions Engineer Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales solutions engineer in Washington?
Most sales solutions engineers in Washington enter through a technical bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a closely related field, followed by experience in a technical role such as software development, systems administration, or IT support. Washington employers, particularly those in the Seattle and Bellevue technology corridors, typically require presales or customer-facing technical experience before promoting into a dedicated solutions engineering role. There is no state-issued license required to work in this role in Washington.
How much do sales solutions engineers make in Washington?
Sales solutions engineers in Washington earn a median of about $147,620 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $95,490 for the lowest 10% to over $175,990 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales solutions engineers in Washington?
Employers hiring sales solutions engineers in Washington right now include Amazon, Nordstrom, and Blue Origin, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Washington's concentration of enterprise software, cloud, and telecommunications headquarters means many of these employers are building or expanding dedicated presales teams rather than relying on contract coverage.
Which Washington cities have the most sales solutions engineer jobs?
Seattle, Bellevue, and Bothell have the most sales solutions engineer openings in Washington. Seattle and Bellevue drive the largest share because of the density of enterprise software, cloud, and SaaS companies headquartered there, while Redmond's role as Microsoft's global campus generates a consistent volume of presales and solutions engineering positions independent of broader hiring trends.
Are there remote sales solutions engineer jobs in Washington?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 56% of sales solutions engineer openings tied to Washington are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting that much of the role involves virtual product demonstrations, online discovery calls, and asynchronous technical documentation. The portions most likely to remain on-site are enterprise kickoff meetings and proof-of-concept workshops with large Washington-based clients.
How can I get hired as a sales solutions engineer in Washington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a technical support, implementation, or software development role into a junior or associate solutions engineer position. Large Washington technology employers, including major cloud and enterprise software companies headquartered in the Seattle metro, regularly recruit from their own technical support and professional services teams. Building a portfolio of product demos, earning a vendor certification on AWS, Azure, or Salesforce, and targeting associate solutions engineer or technical sales development representative postings gives candidates without direct presales experience a credible starting point.
Where can I find and apply to sales solutions engineer jobs in Washington?
You can find and apply to sales solutions engineer jobs in Washington on Migrate Mate, which lists current Washington openings across industries and experience levels. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to each one without needing to go through a separate platform.
